Kam Tovalski Posted October 7, 2022 (edited) Hello. We haven't seen for a while, but I return with a brand-new megawad, again, for Ultimate Doom. This is TARGET: The Tei Tenga Troubles, which is supposed to be as a first entry to the 'TARGET' series and the only one, which is made in Doom 1. The latter megawads: Earth Liberation and Elevator to the Core will be Doom 2 - based games. But let's return to 'TTTT'. As the names implies, the action takes place on Tei-Tenga planet/moon. The UAC HQ lost a contact with one of the bases and you are sent to investigate an object from afar. Unfortunately, while air reconnaissance, Tei-Tenga's Defence System has been activated and your flying unit has been severely damaged. This is where the game starts. You will trespass through plenty of bases, just to realise they are more and more possesed by infernal forces that took the chance and entered to our time and space via 'wrongly functioning transportation devices' There will be 4 episodes in this megawad: Episode 1: Experiment Failure E1M1: Hard Landing (changed)E1M2: Base C (changed)E1M3: Runway Runaway (UV-only yet)E1M4: Base A (UV-only yet)E1M5: R.A.T.S. (UV-only yet)E1M6: Crazy ComputersE1M7: Excavation ProcedureE1M8: Tei Tenga Defence System E1M9: UACU Futurion (UV-only yet) Episode 2: Innermost Realm Episode 3: New Tei's Order Episode 4: Explosive Odyssey Used MIDI: E1M1 - Unnamed MIDI by Jon Landis E1M2 - "SUPFNORD.MID" by Lee Jackson E1M3 - "Demons took my sandwich" by Kam Tovalski E1M9 - "Space Hopper" by Proxyon (covered/arranged by Kam Tovalski) E1M4 - "Some Gunmeister" by Kam Tovalski E1M5 - "Slow Fear" by Kam Tovalski Intro - Unknown MIDI taken from "megawad.wad" by Nathan Lineback (E1M6)Intermission - an unnamed MIDI made by Kam Tovalski E1M1: Hard Landing - more an introduction than a map, it starts just after falling on a abandomned territory. Then you find some minor base. E1M2: Base C - first of two levels in the subcomplex Base C E1M3: Runway Runaway - last level, that happens in Base C complex. This is a part with hangars, computed area and the take-off line. It's a spacious level, but with most monsters hidden in closets. Find red and yellow keys to obtain blue one, that gives you access to final outdoor area. There is a secret exit as well.HINT: Some monsters will approach to you through lifts, they are a bit slow, so you can leave them behind to give them time to go entirely a floor down. E1M9: UACU Futurion - You get into the large airplane 'Futurion'. It doesn't matter, where its destination is, you know that it flies above Base A complex - your next stop. Go through decks, find keys that opens the backdoor, where you can jump out the unit. Just watch out for some bigger pilots! E1M4: "Base A" - This is entry level in the Base A, whare you will spend most of time in Ep. 1. This is also the place where Tei Tenga defence system is maintained. E1M5 - R.A.T.S.: Base A has preety substantial sewer section, with design inspired by one of existing UAC bases on other planet system. You'll traverse through lakes of nukage, watching out for radiation suit not running out and keeping monsters away. You can find there a place with explosive goodies, but also with much more explosive threat. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dropbox link to a wadfile with all maps: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fbszm1etiqxdwf6/TARGET.wad?dl=0 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ***All maps tested and screenshots taken through Chocolate Doom 3.0.1.*** Edited January 22 by Kam Tovalski 21 Share this post Link to post

NightFright Posted October 24, 2022 For me 200p is just too tiresome to look at these days, but even in double res, vanilla maps like these can still be fully enjoyed IMO. 1 Share this post Link to post
Kam Tovalski Posted November 3, 2022 E1M4 is out! Check the top post out! 1 Share this post Link to post
scwiba Posted November 7, 2022 Hey Kam! I recorded a playthrough of all the available maps so far. (Spoiler: I thought they were great.) Youtube seems to still be processing the HD version but I don't think it matters for a Doom video. Also lmao that I got a copyright claim for some of the music. 2 Share this post Link to post
Kam Tovalski Posted November 7, 2022 Thanks @scwiba, gotta watch it soon. About the claim, I guess it was E1M9 track, even tho I arranged it myself haha. Sorry for issues. 0 Share this post Link to post

Alright, I watched this playtest and thank you for this in-view. You are right - I would like to make the classic-styled megawad, with difficulty level around Doom 1, but kinda my way, with some story going in extras. Thus, I make weapons appearance set in a wider time: Rocket Launcher is at E1M9 for the first time. Generally, I try to keep the sequence: new weapom in a hard secret, new weapon in an easy secret, non-secret weapon. Chaingun and RL will be more accessible within Ep. 1. Also, I need to make ammo just a little less tight, especially bullets. haha. 0 Share this post Link to post
SleepyCat Posted December 11, 2022 Thanks for that, the difficulty and complexity dramatically ramp up from the first couple of very gentle levels which was a nice progression, managed to find the secret level and some of the secrets on my playthrough and looking forward to seeing more :) 1 Share this post Link to post
Kam Tovalski Posted January 21 UPDATE: Changes related to E1M1 and E1M2: - E1M1 has a way diffrent second half. - E1M2 has been changed totally in order to make it more classic and less confusing. 3 Share this post Link to post
Kam Tovalski Posted January 22 Another update (sorry for spamming :D ) - E1M2 has a diffrent MIDI track - E1M5 - 1/4 of the map has been removed, so you don't need 12+ minutes to complete it 1 Share this post Link to post
