United VirusX Posted October 20, 2022 (edited) I wanted to get feedback on a map I'm working on for a friend's Discord community nights the wad is planned to have 12 DM maps but I decided to incorporate Single-player as well as co-op into them, the maps were made for and tested with GZDOOM/Zandronum, as far as I know, they do not work in other source ports besides those two mentioned, the map isn't big but it was designed to have multiple waves of enemies with each tier getting harder also all difficulties are available to try out. Update(10/20/22): -I've added more to the final wave so it's not as weak as before also made it mandatory to kill all enemies from the final wave to open the exit teleporters. -Removed the BFG & Megasphere secrets with a Backpack and Soulsphere. -added two extra rooms with some supplies(ammo & health) when the final wave starts. -added some extra enemies to the other waves. -changed up some of the ammo available on the map mainly a few boxes of rockets have been changed to single rockets with a few changed up to shotgun shells. Kan3 Posted October 20, 2022 Tested in UV. This is a very nicely done compact wave-based arena, I quite liked it! Aesthetically the blue and grey give a lot of contrast to standard Doom enemies and that's great, this with the good use of textures and neat architecture really makes the map stand out visually (even though I'm not a fan of guy's faces on walls (x ). Talking about the gameplay, I tend to love when people try to bring out different gameplay styles instead of the usual thing (unless it is a survival horror style), with wave-based fights I have a sort of love and hate, cause usually the fact that the player is stuck for several minutes in a single circular and symmetric area can get boring fast, but fortunately I didn't quite feel this in here. To me it seemed to be pretty well balanced, maybe there's too much ammo, but I won't complain about it, on thing I'd say though is that you probably could have gone more "wild" with the last wave, cause it felt a bit underwhelming, but it could be due to the secrets I found. Speaking of secrets, maybe I didn't pay much attention, but I couldn't notice any "clear" sign of those walls to be different from the others, so it all resulted in just me pressing everything just to find them x) (but like I said, I could be wrong) and I'd suggest you to not make 2 secrets basically identical to one another, especially if there are only 2 in the map and if the map is perfectly symmetrical, cause it kills a bit the haunt and the feeling of reward. That said, cool stuff, here's a terrible gameplay of mine where I get slapped all over the place cause I wasn't paying much attention: Spoiler 1 Share this post Link to post

Arwel Posted October 23, 2022 Because the downloads are hosted on google, it's very tricky to download this for some people. Would be very helpful to have this uploaded to more accessible file hostings. 1 Share this post Link to post

Arwel Posted October 24, 2022 Not sure about current state of Dropbox, but Mediafire seems nice and accessible. Google is problematic for multiple reasons: Bans lots of IP ranges and paid VPN services that people use for daily work and regular internet browsing Requires you to login just to download files someone shared publicly Even when you're logged in but switch to your home desktop PC from your laptop or vice versa it goes crazy and wants you to do 2FA and what not Because of password policies it's very unlikely that you end up with a password you can remember if you're using google for a long time, so it also forces you to use password managers in addition to all above Personally, I find it most convenient when people attach zip to doomworld post itself - I just checked and it doesn't require you to login to download post attachments. But, there are size limits and it's not always an option. Anyway, any file hostings that don't require signup/signin, don't ban IPs etc - are all better than Google. 1 Share this post Link to post
