Lewonx Posted October 22, 2022 For me it's a bug in Assassin's Creed IV where using fast travel during some post mission dialogue results in any attempt to start the next mission leading to an endless loading screen. The game by the way saved after that dialogue skip, so I basically got softlocked 20 hours into the game. 0 Share this post Link to post
Rudolph Posted October 22, 2022 (edited) The bug in XCOM 2012 that causes a downed squadmate to get catapulted outside of the map limit or enemies to magically teleport in right next to you. I hated it so much that it, in combination with other aggravating factors, caused me to give up on the game altogether. Either those, or the bug in Mass Effect 2 that makes Commander Shepard levitate if they bump into a cover from a certain angle, thus forcing you to reload the last checkpoint. Incidentally, the fact that I was able to recreate that bug in the Mass Effect 3 demo is what convinced me to skip the game, which in hindsight was a good thing. 1 Share this post Link to post
Sonikkumania Posted October 22, 2022 On Fallout 2, the power plant guards started shooting at me after I made a quest regarding the plant's mainteanance. Had to check it and it was a bug, pretty irritating one especially that was my only legit save. 1 Share this post Link to post
Frozen Posted October 22, 2022 Giromon's jukebox in the first Digimon World game. You just wanted to play music at Meramon's oven-shaped restaurant and before you could hear anything, it would crash the game always. 1 Share this post Link to post
BaileyTW Posted October 22, 2022 7 Days to Die is an early access game that has somehow gotten more unstable as the years have gone by. Sometimes you'll just encounter a bug which resets your character to new, so losing levels and learned recipes, and the only way to fix this is backing up your saves extremely regularly. 1 Share this post Link to post

Yeah, there's Killap's unofficial Restoration project and behind this link even more: https://www.nma-fallout.com/resources/official-and-unofficial-1-02-fallout-2-patches.57/ 0 Share this post Link to post
Vermil Posted October 22, 2022 (edited) Apparently, Doom's 5th and 6th save game slots didn't work until v1.2: https://doomwiki.org/wiki/Versions_of_Doom_and_Doom_II#v1.2 I think in this age of source ports, we forget how, seemingly, buggy our beloved game was in its original incarnation. 2 Share this post Link to post
Frozen Posted October 22, 2022 I always thought that this glitch, which can although be useful, is pretty freaky: 1 Share this post Link to post
Endless Posted October 22, 2022 One of the most annoying ones for me was a Dead Space difficulty bug: When you continue your game by using the ''Continue'' menu option, there's a random chance that the game will reset the difficulty to Medium for some god forsaken reason. I was 80% with the game in Impossible difficulty, using only the Plasma Cutter trying to get the achievement. Suddenly I feel the game too easy; there's less enemies, they do less damage and I have a lot of ammo. I check out my settings and boy did I felt like shit. My entire progress thrown to waste. I restarted my attempt a few months later, and, since then, I never press ''Continue''. 4 Share this post Link to post
Rudolph Posted October 22, 2022 @Endless Well, let us hope it is not in the upcoming remake! 1 Share this post Link to post
Sonikkumania Posted October 23, 2022 If anyone has ever played S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl Vanilla back in the day it came out, you might remember how unstable it was. NPC's from the starting area would end up dead on most unexpecting places and packs of wild dogs would maul you as you spawned into another area. Good times lol. I once had a Bloodsucker, one of the games toughest mutant enemies be right where I spawned. It was a mini heart attack timing. Also can't forget about the infamous Sonic 06 Silver boss battle in Sonic's story mode. The fucking "IT'S NO USE" meme fight. The whole game is a mess. It's not as broken as everybody used to joke but it is not a stable game. Just look at this: Spoiler 2 Share this post Link to post
Adamantium Posted October 23, 2022 i use to have so many addons installed on gmod that it once crashed so hard i had to restart my entire pc 1 Share this post Link to post
unerxai Posted October 23, 2022 (edited) Fallout 3. Made it very far into the game and the save corrupted. I guess it was my fault for trusting the auto save functionality and not do manual saves. /s I once got the "Purple Nines" bug in GTA 3 and had to start again. 1 Share this post Link to post
LexiMax Posted October 24, 2022 (edited) I once got an unintentional pipe glitch in Super Mario Bros 3 All-Stars. This is a picture of the glitch, but I think it happened in the All-Stars version of 3-9 instead. Anyway, I never came out the other end of the pipe, and I think Mario existed offscreen below the ground, but the camera tracked the ingame level instead. I could move Mario, and I was able to walk all the way to the left and right of the level trying to get back in-bounds, but eventually timed out. 1 Share this post Link to post
heliumlamb Posted October 24, 2022 probably not the worst but it is the most vivid in my memory. Playing a friend's possibly dirty copy of super mario 64, not a reproducable bug i think. we went into a level, where the jumping man started to go down into the ground to the rhythm of the music, which had some of its instruments swapped out with mario's sfx. imagine "dire dire docks" with a bunch of tuned "yah"s and "woo"s, as mario folds in and out of the ground along with it. we've achieved similar things thru cartridge tilting since then, but that always is chaotic with next to no control. 1 Share this post Link to post
RHhe82 Posted October 24, 2022 I haven’t come across that many infuriating ones, but fitting for this forum: Hexen was one of the first (and few) games I got legit as a kid, I loved it, but I could never get past the Castle Grief. Only years later I realized I had been softlocked just near the end of the hub. And to reminisce those countless hours I wasted looking for progression. 1 Share this post Link to post

Graf Zahl Posted October 24, 2022 That would be Quake 4. In one of those infamous vehicle sequences I got somehow booted out of the vehicle by some glitch. Just too bad that I could not recover by cheating myself back into a stable place, and all the saves I had caused the same glitch. I had to abandon the game because I was unable to get through that sequence. 1 Share this post Link to post
Wyrmwood Posted October 24, 2022 Doubt that it's been fixed to this day but Xcom Terror of the deep has a bug where whatever difficulty you pick, you only get hard. Also doing research in the "wrong" order when it's supposed to be up to you can result in you being unable to finish the game. We all moan about devs releasing games with bugs and then patching for months but at least they (sometimes) get fixed. Back then you were stuck with what you bought. 1 Share this post Link to post

No wonder I'd suck at that game when I was a teen! (I did suck at Enemy Unknown, too, for that matter). 1 Share this post Link to post
Tetzlaff Posted October 24, 2022 (edited) There was this obscure 2002 FPS named ReVOLUTION. It had interesting Art Nouveau meets Cyberpunk visuals, but lackluster gameplay. The glitch: In one level you had to ride a large industrial elevator upwards while shooting at enemies on the surrounding walkways. Instead of eventually reaching the top floor, the elevator somehow entered a neverending loop and seamlessly repeated the whole ride again and again. Broke the games progression. 1 Share this post Link to post
