The only enemy that ISN'T satisfying to blow away point-blank with an SSG is a lost soul

To me they always felt like an enemy that should go down with just 1 normal shotgun blast or even a couple of pistol rounds

Absolutely.

Yes, it's very satisfying. I sometimes switch back to the normal shotgun, just to one shot imps and zombies.

Hate it when it fails though.

It's very satisfying to inflict a maximum dose of shotgun spread against Pinkies. I have similar feelings about using the SSG on Hell Knights and Arachnotrons.

that can be organized

As for original question: I learned the hard way today that supershotting them is slower than a snail on dry surface.

Shooting the lost soul with an SSG is only satisfying because then it goes away.

unless you have a pain elemental on your hands

Yes. although it should be said that it can occasionally be overdone. Like please try not to go over 40 in one room in a non-slaughter wad. It's a rare map where such can actually work.

agreed, killing pinkies with a SSG only works in moderation, don't overkill it

Originally, yes. Pretty much exclusively, as it was the most fun way to get through what is probably the most useless enemy in the game.

But ever since I started playing only with fast monsters many years ago, I quite often prefer the Chaingun or Plasma Gun. The fast monsters change turns them into actual enemies and the painlocking of the fast RoF weapons is often needed to not get mowed down by large groups very quickly. The SSGs fire rate becomes too insufficient in many cases.

Absolutely.

Killing a pinkie with a single point blank SSG shot gives me same kind of satisfaction as killing an imp with a single pump shotgun hit or a cyberdemon with 2 BFG shots.

You can tell who here uses Vanilla ports versus who uses GZDoom based on who thinks the chainsaw is useful.

If you kill a pinky with an SSG blast, you are wasting only 25% of your damage output, and that's assuming you hit absolutely nothing else behind it.

It feels nice to two-shot pinkies with the regular shotgun instead every once in a while, and plus I'm pretty prone to missing point blank. And chainsawing them also feels quite nice, only recently started doing that.

Three shots, probably a waste of ammo but it feels better

Tbh, the most satisfying thing is when you can let them infight. I sometimes just run around for minutes, just to make them destroy each other.
