nathanB404 Posted December 22, 2022 which doom game created many memories for you? could be the classics or the modern titles. for me personally, I have the most nostalgia for doom eternal. tracks like super gore nest, cultist base, blood swamps, hell on earth, sentinel prime, Exultia (especially the Ambientes. its sooo good) etc... i remember being so excited when i beat ultra nightmare on super gore nest master level as a kid back then. the feeling of rush and intenseness when going through ultra nigthmare, in general, was unlike anything other for me at the time hehe 😅. and then being rewarded for your achievement was so awesome. 0 Share this post Link to post
Azuris Posted December 22, 2022 (edited) I think one of the most shared Memories will be the end of Episode 1 when the two Barrons appear. Love it. Edit: Also the Recreation in Doom 3 plus the Impression that Hell gives there. 4 Share this post Link to post
TheMagicMushroomMan Posted December 22, 2022 I understand that you're young, but how can you feel nostalgia for a game that came out all the way back in 2020? Even when it came to my "childhood games" it probably took a good ten years to produce that feeling. Not judging, just wondering, because I'm starting to see a lot of people on places like Youtube commenting on how nostalgic a game/movie/song from six months ago makes them feel. It reminds me of your friend in middle school talking about how they're getting engaged to this guy/girl they met all the way back in... last week. 18 Share this post Link to post

Wyrmwood Posted December 22, 2022 I still consider Eternal a new game, not even got round to playing yet! Think your mistaking nostalgia for something else. Unless your a time traveler from 2055! 5 Share this post Link to post
Mr. Freeze Posted December 22, 2022 Doom 1. One of my few SNES memories is me with that red cartridge on a random 90's Saturday morning, blasting demons away. 5 Share this post Link to post

TheFocus Posted December 22, 2022 Doom 2 easy. specifically, the track Waiting For Romero To Play. for whatever reason, that song takes me back to the very first time i ever played the game when i was like, 10. 2 Share this post Link to post

Hell, I have nostalgia of my own toward Eternal. Not as much so as 2016 or the original Doom games, but it's still very much there. 0 Share this post Link to post

MrBlaskovitz Posted December 22, 2022 The original Ultimate Doom. I still remember playing it on my dad's old MAC using Chocolate Doom. The sound of E2M1 still gives me the feels :) 2 Share this post Link to post
Lucius Wooding Posted December 22, 2022 Sigil 2, it gave me reverse nostalgia as soon as it was announced. I was so young back then. 1 Share this post Link to post
Bagellio Posted December 22, 2022 i never actually played doom until 2020, but i do remember seeing the originals on the xbox live arcade when i was younger, however i never played them for some reason. so, i guess the cover art? 0 Share this post Link to post

OleBumma Posted December 22, 2022 (edited) The ending of episode 1 takes me back to those days when I would freak out as a kid hoppin into that black hole dimension leading to nothing but death lol I think going through each episode was such a quest for me back then, I still have a diary from that year where I would take notes of my progresses. ._. 1 Share this post Link to post

I remember carrying the torch for all those hopelessly outdated NES and SNES games in like, 1996. Or, like, watching an MTV 80s weekend in 1994 or 1995 and being like "damn I wish it was still the 80s, the 80s were so cool..." motherfucker that wasn't even half a decade ago!! Time just works differently when you're young. Nowadays it's like "huh, how the hell are the Xbox 360 and PS3 nostalgic, they just came out a couple years ago didn't they?" 3 Share this post Link to post

Not cringe at all my friend, actually a very reasonable and mature response from someone who was supposedly a kid a couple years ago. I've seen other people with "lockdown nostalgia" so I understand what you're saying. Things never really changed for me during that period of time, so it's not really something that affects me. Plus like @Ragu said, time works differently when you're young. After about 18 or so, this effect wears off and things that came out in 2010 seem like they came out last year. I think the most "modern" game that is nostalgic to me is Dragon Quest VIII. 7 Share this post Link to post
xX_Lol6_Xx Posted December 23, 2022 (edited) Snes Doom, no jokes I love this port and will always be my favorite version of Doom, despite the Dos version being obviously better in every aspect and it being one of the worst in terms of performance. It was my first exposure to Doom after all and I think it has the best soundtrack out of all console ports. Heck some of the more creepy or tense music tracks sound a lot better in Snes than in Dos, at least in my opinion, for example: Spoiler E1M2 Spoiler VS Spoiler E2M2 Spoiler VS Spoiler E2M8 (E2M5 in Snes Doom is by far my favorite track of the first game) Spoiler VS Spoiler E2M6 (E2M4 in Snes Doom) Spoiler VS Spoiler Edited December 23, 2022 by xX_Lol6_Xx : Correcting some shenanegans with the spoiler tags 2 Share this post Link to post

Two years ago most of us were suffering the pandemic, and in shutdown mode. A lot of people lives changed to staying at home for much longer then they were used to, and I've seen some people recall those times with either a sense of dread or melancholy. Personally, I don't feel nostalgia for 2 years ago, but I feel a distant sadness. The 2020 quarantine days were very quiet, and staying at home 24 7 in total silence made time move way slower, which I welcomed. There were things that I discovered and enjoyed during that time, but that I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been capable of doing if it was just another regular year. 2020 was weird man, it almost feels like some historical event from decades ago, so much has changed in so little. As for ''true'' nostalgia, if that even exist, I guess it hits you after 10 years. A generation is enough to feel the weight of time pass by. 10 years ago I was discovering Minecraft, and why yes, I feel nostalgia for that game, and a lot. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kor Posted December 23, 2022 I'd have to go with Doom 1, which I first played the shareware of in 95. I have a vague memory of wandering the halls of e1m4. It looked amazing to me. I also recall seeing the episode 1 sky for the first time and, since I didn't know the story, wondering if the game took place in South America. 0 Share this post Link to post

There is no exact Time that has to pass to feel Nostalgia. Just an Example: Somebody passed away a Week ago and you feel Nostalgia for the Tea Time you had together each Day, even if the last Time is only two Weeks ago. 1 Share this post Link to post
