It all looks great! The WAD is excellent so far, looking forward to the final product.

Tomorrow is going to be a rainy sunday with no other plans on the menu so that will be a perfect moment to stay inside and play through this thing! I'll try to make a video of it and provide feedback where I can think of any. This was a fun project to work on. I like the small scale of it which makes it very comprehensive and digestible. Thanks for hosting it, @UltimateDecaf!

Thank you for contributing to the project! Your map is a lot of fun and having textures created in Midjourney adds to the experimental flavor of the project:)

Oh, so only one map was made at the university? And none by actual students? Figures. From my experience, most student projects end up being... well... academic, which is just an euphemism for "useless"...

Overally, it's solid work with lots of GZdoom eyecandy. My only gripe are some automatic doors in MAP03 and MAP06 (I think), they behave erratically, because they react to monster movements too.

Three maps are from students (MAP01, MAP07, MAP08). Besides, the project has never been dubbed as student-only. In fact, it's the synergy between students and the community that yielded this result, which I appreciate a lot (a shout-out to David Newton's Discord Members who joined the project, you're awesome!).

Glad that you liked it. The project was inspired by David Newton's RAMP, which utilizes GZDoom a lot. In this regard MAP03, MAP05, and MAP10 stand out the most with the skilful implementation of GZDoom features.

Ah, I see now, it's a Dubai branch of the actual british University of Birmingham, which is among the top 100 universities in the world. No wonder their students are more talented and determined than your average college... material. How many students originally tried to create a map?

Well, I do not find such degrading remarks about my university to be acceptable. My professors are teaching me well, the curriculum runs in parallel with Edgbaston, and I have a great time communicating and sharing ideas with other fellow students from different parts of the world. With that being said, thanks again for playing the project. Have a good day.

I don't think Caleb was making a degrading remark about your university?  They said it's a branch of a system that's among the top 100 of the world and that therefore it's no wonder the students are talented and determined.  If anything that seems to be a compliment.  (I wouldn't say that the average college student is especially poor material, as Caleb seems to imply, but that's neither here nor there.)

Ahh, I see now. Thanks @jerrysheppy for clearing it out for me!
@Caleb13, I apologise for the misunderstanding.

So if the branch is located in Dubai, does it mean that you are all Dubaians? Or is it more of an international exchange program?

Also, I am not quite sure I understand the nature of the project. Are you a teacher having your students create Doom maps as part of an assignment or are you a student yourself and this is some sort of team project for one of your courses?

A lot of students are Dubai residents, but considering the fact that Dubai's population is quite diverse, students mostly are from all around the world.

I am a postgraduate student (MSc Computer Science), and last semester I approached the ACM Student Chapter of the Uni with the suggestion to conduct a level design workshop in Doom II. I was inspired by David Newton's RAMP, because during the month of June David hosts a project, and uploads videos on how to create a map. In the same manner, after the workshop I announced a project, so that everyone interested could submit a map.

I forgot to answer your question:) For the workshop that I led, around 10-15 students came to participate. In hindsight, I understand that one workshop was not enough, and maybe with a series of subsequent meetings I could have had more students submitting their maps. Nonetheless, it was a very good experience, and I am glad that so many students attended the workshop itself.

Well done guys, very solid stuff here, this set of maps has somehting for everyone. The maps range from traditional (gameplay wise), chellenge, adventurous, explorational, puzzle, and I don't want to spoil anything, but you're getting much more than what's on the surface, as some of the maps are unconventional and offer multiple challenges and themes. All of the works are of high quality and detail, with my personal favorite aspect being the atmosphere, especially in Map05: Corrupting Cul-De-Sac, with its variety of themes and excellent music choices. I recommend this to everyone who's looking for a unique and varied experience.

@TheV1perK1ller has recently concluded the playthrough of BirminDoom, and I feel like Level 10 is a great finisher for the whole mapset: @jerrysheppy creates a captivating narrative, and the objectives enhance the playing experience, creating visually appealing plot. The ending is a nice challenge, and I also really appreciate giving shotgun from the very beginning.

Also, this video contains a credits cutscene that was inspired by @ANonThingie!'s credits for MAP05.

I plan on sharing a postmortem of creating my first community project in this thread. Meanwhile, I invite you to try out BirminDoom and share your feedback!
