TimeWarp - A HL1 TC i'm working on

The aesthetics look really good, must be difficult to pull off something so smooth on the goldsrc engine. Do you have any kind of release window in mind?

thanks, it's not really goldsrc though, the mod runs on a fork of xash3d which is basically a reverse engineered goldsrc engine with improvements for modders like higher limits, etc.

as for the release, i don't really know yet. after the proper announcement later in the year i'll probably be aiming for a demo release of the mod by the end of this year.

Interesting use of Goldsrc. Most Goldsrc mods I've seen usually tend to not stray that far from the Valve art style of Half Life or CS, but this looks completely different to any of that. Good uniqueness.

I saw the first pic and thought that was it, and then I realized I could scroll down and my jaw dropped.

This is so cool! I love the simple but charming visuals. The use of colored lighting is very tasteful as well :^)

This looks stunning. It’s a totally different art style than you’re used to seeing for HL1 and you’ve done a good job with injecting loads of atmosphere into it!

i haven't posted here in a while due to moving out and stuff, but i've made a bunch of progress since then.

i'm pretty close to finishing the first chapter of the mod, so here's some shots of the maps from it!

i started experimenting around with making cutscenes for the mod and finished a little animation test! this was quite a pain to get working since it's all in engine but i hope you like it!

Let's Do The Time Warp Again For The First Time? :P

EDIT #1: Hmmm, I am having trouble making the game display in fullscreen 1920 x 1080. For whatever reason, the screen is either not centered or it is too large and spreads to my second monitor. I had to turn on the High DPI scaling behavior override in order to fix it.

EDIT #2: I like the Mega Man Legends-inspired aesthetics so far, but I find myself really struggling with the platforming sequences. I do not know if it is because the character does not feel like he is running fast enough, but it feels like the margin for error is much narrower than in Half-Life: if I do not jump from the very edge of a platform, I will simply fail the jump. Jumping across lava or even reaching that wooden beam with the extra magazine on top of it have been much more difficult than I expected it to be and as such I died a lot so far. Quite frustrating.

yeah, i thought the platforming might've been difficult but the playtesters had no issue with it so i assumed it was no big deal, i'll make them easier for the first patch

One thing that is not quite a criticism so much so as something that strikes me as odd is the fact that the detective woman gives you a revolver even though your character already has a weapon. Is it me or the original plan was to have him start unarmed and the pistol was later added to give the player a faster weapon to shoot with?
