Fueled By Blood - A pretty big Doom 2 map!

I am extremely excited to announce the release of my new Doom 2 map, Fueled by Blood!

 

"Fueled By Blood - Machines powered by literal human suffering at a distant research base run by a deranged cult..."

 

The details:

- A single map in the MAP01 slot (Doom2 IWAD)

- Single-player only

- Built for and tested with GZDoom

- No crouching or jumping allowed!

- Vertical mouse-look is encouraged though

- Custom music (by me!)

- Textures from the Gothic texture pack from Realm667

- Should look fine in both software and hardware rendering mode, though will be darker in software mode

 

Special thanks to Dieting Hippo and Kiera Lord (cratesmith) for testing and providing feedback. Additional thanks to Sarah Mancuso/esselfortium for getting lost and finding some missing textures :)

Howdy! Played through it and had a blast. Music, atmosphere and general flow were great!

Those Set Pieces were very creepy indeed! Also, the architecture is brilliant

 

Question for you though:

Is 100% Kills possible? Are the Archviles, Cyberdemons and Barons in the Set Piece killable? I couldn't seem to find a way to locate them?

To answer your question - all the enemies in the thing you're talking about are used in the final battle.

 

100% should be possible but I've got a bunch of enemies on teleport triggers so it's possible that one or two just... don't ever get teleported into the level. Whoops.

Could be my mistake, I'm opening GZDoom from a Launcher and setting Comp Level to 2. 

I'm an absolute moron when it comes to this, is that the correct setting? Or is there another setting I should specify in GZDoom itself? :)

Played this when it was originally released on /idgames: some of the detailing was immediately a bit weird, but it was goore more than not and the idea of puzzling the chapel out then emerging into the courtyard was a good one!

Comp Level? I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about! I just drag the wad to the GZDoom app and it automatically loads it. I don't use any fancy launchers!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! There are definitely some parts where I'm not totally happy with the visuals (mostly in the starting area, but I built it so crammed together that it's hard to fix things without breaking others)... but I think the more I built the better I got at it.

 

I'm really glad you like the central idea of the starting puzzle area in the middle of a bigger level. The original idea was to make the ENTIRE level a spiral like the starting area that just keeps getting bigger the further you get, but it was so difficult to make it work that I had to stop.

Oh, I also want to mention - I uploaded a new version to /idgames but it hasn't been approved yet. There's one tiny bug in the original, which is why I put the newer version on google drive for this thread's announcement.
