[MBF21]The Hell Despot - A prefabricated community project

That depends on the amount of participants.   If we get enough I'll put a relatively short deadline, but this is not intended to be a speed mapping project.  If there are only a few participants, then I'll extend the deadline so that we have enough time to make a couple of maps each if we so choose in order to have enough content to release a worthwhile wad.

 

This is intended to be fairly chill.

Really interesting concept! I'll check out the sample map and fiddle around with the prefabs a bit over the weekend to see if I can make anything interesting :D

This sounds like a cool idea. Reminds me of Doom 2016 snapmap. I'd like to participate in some way.

Just so you know, there hasn't been any map development on this project by anyone but myself.  If you want to contribute, you're more than welcome to, but as it stands now, I plan on finishing a 4th map and releasing it into the wild.

No real deadline.  If you want to make a map I'd be happy to include it.  Since you're on the discord direct any questions you might have about it there.

There's an IDGAMES release of this project.  Unfortunately, myself and Yusef Anik only have 4 maps to present to you, and rather than just sit on a dead project, we've decided to release what we have to the public.  You can download our efforts here at https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/s-u/thd_a1   Rest assured that these maps represent a finished product, just not on a scale we would have liked to have released.  If you need some convincing, here are some screenshots to whet your appetite:

 

Map 01 Welcome to the Hell Despot:

On difficulties other than UV, this has no monsters, as it was merely meant to showcase the different prefab sections.

 

Map 02 Scorching Rocks by Yousuf Anik:

A traditional fiery hell that will singe your boots.

 

Map 03 Prefab Purgatory:

An eclectic mix of original sections and shout outs to others' maps.  Yes, the finale is what you think it is, and yes, aren't I so clever for doing yet another rehash of that set piece.

 

Map 04 80 Liters of Mountain Dew:

A blatantly Junk Food inspired map.  You get a BFG and a couple thousand demons to kill.  Breezy power fantasy slaughter for those that like that sort of thing.  There's an optional difficulty selection available in map on UV, but it is not required to 100% the map.  Please don't use FLUIDSYNTH if you plan on playing that optional fight.

Hey @A.o.D. it's really great to see this in release at last, even if it's small our efforts didn't go in vain at all. I will try to make some playthroughs if possible in my laptop.

I think I need to brush up on my knowledge of DOOM macro-strategy, but that is also a lot of Mountain Dew by anyone's measure!

Just a head's up, I've updated the Hell Despot download on idgames to alpha 2.  The only change of note is that I've replaced an midi that appears in map04 with one that works well with the default DSDA and GZDoom soundfonts.  If you plan on giving the optional UV-only challenge mode a try, redownload the file for something that won't make you reminisce fondly for the days of fingernails drawn across the blackboard.  You can get it at:  https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/s-u/thd_a2
