Which is your favorite DooM ending?

Recommended Posts

For me, It's the original 1993 one. It first tricks you into thinking that this is a generic "happily ever after" crap, then hits you with the dead corpse of your OWN rabbit and your city in flames. When I first saw this, I was genuinely shocked by how deceptive this ending was. DooM 1 is also my favorite in the series so that's another reason. Come to think of it, Doom 2/TNT/Plutonia were pretty lacking in the intermission department. Most of the screens are just the same textures and you really only get text. That's pretty lame.

Fun Fact: The city skyline in DooM was used in that one cringe and unscary sonic.exe creepypasta. (Or maybe one of its hundred clones perhaps.)

The shareware. I always liked

It stinks like rotten meat, but looks like the lost Deimos base. Looks like you're stuck on the shores of Hell. The only way out is through.

To honest though, it's mostly because this is the ending I saw the most back in the day for obvious reason.

To continue the DOOM experience, play The Shores of Hell and its amazing sequel, Inferno!

I love how they didn't change this to read any less like a ploy to buy registered at all

Edited by No-Man Baugh : though they left the registery info in registered, i was wrong

I like the dead bunny ending of Doom 1's Inferno. Having Doomguy basically die and go to hell at the end of Knee Deep In The Dead was cool too.

The other IWADs had story just to have story, and didn't do much with it beyond text screens. And I'm not sure if PWADs and unofficial IWADs/TCs are being counted here.

The Shareware/E1 ending, you go into the portal expecting to get a good ending; warp to a safe place with the remaining survivors from the demonic onslaught then get rewarded and sent home, only to get torn apart by demons and zombies in the dark.

I mean Plutonia has "Hell has gone back to pounding bad dead folks"

TNT Evilution. i love how atmospheric and mysterious the ending is with the blue light and sky. Still makes me confused and wanting to know more after every Evilution playthrough.

(Also most likely will never be explained outside of fan sequels but TNT2 Devilution is my favorite explaination)

For some reason I like Doom 64's ending. The marine staying in hell to prevent further invasions makes for a very bittersweet ending, the world is safe for now and the hero wins, but he has to keep fighting for all eternity. I'm not even that big of a fan of the newer Doom games but I really like the idea that the Doomguy became the Doom slayer because of 64's ending, this nearly unstoppable demon killing machine.

I was going to say this too.

Doom 2's my favorite. That tired vibe it gives off after the mediocre Icon of Sin battle always makes me smirk, even if I've seen the same ending for so many years.

Yeah I almost forgot about that one!

That was a pretty good conclusion to that game. Doomguy treating his demon ptsd by killing more demons lol.

I really loved TAG 2’s ending. Probably not a popular choice I know but I thought it was cool.
