I'm thinking about starting this DooM 2 mod called Changing Fate, it's about a soldier named Richard Heinz who's nation was destroyed by a ruthless army, the army killed everyone but Richard and locked Richard up in a prison tower, but due to an accident, Richard breaks out of his cell and now he must get to the bottom of the tower where he can save his nation using a time machine

I don't have much to show since I can't draw and i need help

What I need right now:

Artist - A good one who can mimic the DooM art style, you need to draw lots of things in this mod such as weapons, enemies and items, ill write you directions over time

Font Maker - One who can make the text visuals for the mod, like main menu buttons, messages, etc

I'll update this if I need more help or if a role was taken

Sounds like so much work, what do we get in return?

Hmm. Credits is always nice to have. Have you considered that maybe you could also offer some expertise in using the DOOM Map Builder?

Tell us more about this project, is it a total conversion, is it just a gameplay mod, will it contain a campaign, maps?

it will be a total conversion, it will have 30 maps along with 2 secret levels like the original DooM 2, also right now i think i could do simple coding and also make the music

ahhh, so i was thinking about doing the maps myself but i could probably get someone to make the maps for me, i could probably send them designs for the maps too, unsure about textures rn

Hmm. You are making it more interesting! I think you need to explain how durable these maps will be.

Here's what i could think of, each map would be a floor of the tower, these floors are very large, there are 8 sections to fight through to get to the next floor, you need to search for find access code notes (new keycard items) to get to the control room which leads you out of the floor, in some maps, you'll have bosses to fight, there will be a map where there will be a mini boss and then a 1-section map where you must face the boss

I don't wanna be disrespectful, but let me just get that straight: you want somebody else to create all the art assets for you as well as build all the maps for you. What exactly are you doing? Give directions? Emotional support? I'm sorry but if you want to create a project like this, i think you should do the lion share of the work yourself. If you can't pull it off, you either have to lower your ambitions to fit your skills or pay people for their work. Having a cool concept alone is not really worth that much in a hobbyist scene like the Doom community.

Just my two cents.

In my opinion, you're restricting yourself with that premise about a tower and floor maps... That means no exterior levels, and a full campaign taking place inside one building/location. It almost sounds like Wolfenstein 3D. You're talking about a country that wipes out another country, and all you're going to show of that force is the inside of a tower where the main charcter is kept hostage. Tell us more about the setting and the world. Does the story takes place on Earth or a fictional planet? When does it take place? Does it have any science fiction or fantasy elements? Describe some of the reasons for the war that leads to the desctruction of an entire nation and all peole living in it. What could be the reason the main character (and only him) is spared and imprisoned? And lastly, design some levels to show first, even if they're using only classic Doom assets... that last one is important for atracting potential artists, because they will have a beter understanding of how their work will be used in the project. Well, at least that's how i see it. Actually, you're asking only for custom sprites, so i asume you have already chosen an existing texture pack for your project, so why not make some levels with it?

Please don't take this the wrong way, and put more effort in presenting your project. There are so many examples all over the internet about cool ideas not gaining support or interest, because they're poorly presented, or not explained well enough... i'm talking about independent projects in general, not just Doom stuff.

Well, having a cool concept that's also easy to accomplish for most creators, i.e. making a single small map with XYZ requirements/theme/gimmick, is often enough to get people contributing. But @Hans Grosse you are basically asking for an entire game...

When we're talking about a community project that is of course a different thing, but even there the project lead is usually expected to contribute several maps and take the lead not just in terms of approving and dismissing maps but also creatively.
