Are there maps that take place in real world locations?

Recommended Posts

Seeing this old Doom wad review video I started to wonder, do we have a lot of real world based maps that you're aware of? By real world I mean levels that do in fact replicate the location within Doom based engines.

Video I'm referring to:

Though it's not actually based on THE WHITE HOUSE... So not quite what I'm after but you get the idea.

How about all of New York City, and some of New Jersey?

One of my personal favorite maps for more expansive enemy and weapon replacement mods. If the Cyberdemons sniping from the Empire State get replaced with more exotic variants it can make the constant artillery barrage into something else. I had a rather memorable run where I got a cyberdemon that shot poison rockets and so I had to run from street to street, taking cover from impending chemical weapons floods. Doomguy Takes Manhattan is just a really fun concept and as multi-hour romps go this is definitely decently paced. Still needed saves to get through it though, I won't lie.

LAGI was working on recreating the Titanic in Doom.

It looks doubtful this will ever be released though, as the last update was nearly 3 years ago.

Wasn't suburbs from Doom 2 I think based on Sandy's them home and his parents house too? does that qualify as a real life location?
Also obligatory mention of MyHouse.wad's house I guess.

NITELIFE has a map based off of a Laser Quest that was close to the Author. While the maps in that set aren't the most calibrated Gameplay-wise, they are fascinating in a 'Proto-Doomcute' kind of way.

Arguably every Egypt themed map ever?

How many of them are within reasonable distance of "levels that do in fact replicate the location" ?
