Wadmodder Shalton Posted August 6 Any modern TV show. I don't watch that much TV at home TBH, as I mainly use YouTube to watch my entertainment now, include a few movies that occasionally peek my interest when they are Free with Ads for a limited time. And sometimes modern movie releases as well, outside of when my family wants to go to a theater. Sometimes old PC games from my childhood as well, and console games as I would use emulation for the latter category. Virtual Machines are a thing that I just can't stop think about, and sometimes either go back to it or let it go out of sheer curiosity. 0 Share this post Link to post
Coopersville Posted August 8 (edited) As the owner of FurAffinity just passed away, I am reminded that I used to spend a lot of time browsing that website from about 2002 - 2005. Not for any fetishistic reasons, in fact I tried to avoid nsfw content as much as possible; I just sort of ended up there through the Sonic fandom pipeline and there happened to be a ton of great artists there. As soon as someone accused me of being a furry, I kind of just distanced myself from that scene. 1 Share this post Link to post
Panzermann11 Posted August 22 (edited) I have to admit, I used to be a fan of My Little Pony back then, as I said earlier. It was common throughout the early 2010's, especially on the Web and there was hardly any way you could escape its presence on the internet, no matter how hard you try. Naturally, I caved in because of the cute character design. I was young at the time, and M.L.P. was made for children, so I thought nothing could go wrong. As expected with fan bases of media made for children there's bound to be ultra weird shit on the internet, but if you can get past that, you'll find plenty of cool stuff such as Ponies: The Anthology series. I've now moved on, and that's pretty much for the best. One or more creators I used to watch might've made out with kids on the internet, and there might've been other super-terrible shit going on. I pray for myself I don't turn out like that and I'm glad I bailed out just in time before things got any worse. Edited September 14 by Panzermann11 0 Share this post Link to post
giwake Posted August 22 I used to be EXTREMELY into Minecraft. It was one of the first games I bought with my own money (well, pocket money given to me by my parents) and was probably the game I played the most for a good bit of my life. I dropped off around 2015-16-ish because I grew bored of it. I came back to it a couple of times to play multiplayer with friends and it just feels so bloated. 15 different types of stone that do nothing except waste inventory space while mining, a bunch of mobs that have boring gimmicks (Why do I need to sleep to make these mobs go away? It's not fun and it feels like a waste of time.) and a hundred different things to keep track of at once... I feel like the older versions (1.8 Beta and below - by the way, there's 2 different versions of the game with the version number 1.8, isn't that weird?) work best because of their simplicity. It feels like added content for the sake of added content. Not to mention the community... Multiplayer servers I used to frequent have become little more than half-baked minigames, grind-a-thons and lootbox hellscapes, Youtube videos are either one of those youtuber groups that have a weird fanbase or child-targeted clickbait. I also used to play Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (now Counter-Strike 2?) a lot. I really wanted to get good at playing competitively. After about 500 hours of playing I never got out of Silver and I had been yelled at, called slurs, had threats made against my life... Pretty much everything in the Toxic Gamer Book. I realized I wasn't having fun and quit playing in 2021 and never looked back. Competitive multiplayer is a horrible scourge upon video games IMO. It's not fun and it enables some of the worst toxicity I've ever seen in gaming circles. I've now realized that I have a very weird niche when it comes to games and I usually find myself playing weird "alt-games." Short, narrative or vibes driven experiences made by small teams. Cruelty Squad (for extra Loser Hipster Points: I knew about it before all the youtubers got in on it :V ), Hexcraft: Harlequin Fair, Anthology of the Killer... That shit's up my alley. Especially because I don't have as much time as I used to and I can't sink hundreds of hours into games anymore. 6 Share this post Link to post
unerxai Posted August 23 The Teletubbies. I tried watching it the other day and it wasn't as good as I thought it was back then. 1 Share this post Link to post
AdministrationCenter21 Posted August 27 I used to love the atmosphere of malls, and I still sort of do, but now they just seem like gigantic cathedrals of ill-gotten consumerism. 2 Share this post Link to post

Panzermann11 Posted August 29 (edited) I used to listen to those Korean songs (K-Pop as the peoples call it) on a music video channel on TV I used to watch as a little kid, around 2010-2013. At the top of my mind, a few bands I knew were Girls' Generation, 4-Minute, 2NE1, BigBang, Super Junior and a few more. It was quite popular where I live for quite some time (and still is, last I checked), I remember an old-ass phone I used to have had "Gee" on it. Don't remember much of the channel anymore, but I remember the channel had a big M as its logo. Almost certain it's MTV, but I could be sure it was called something else like "Me4". I remember at one point it was changed to something like "Zing Channel". Now, I don't listen to that stuff a lot anymore. The songs don't have the appeal they were to me back then. I find it hard to tell people I play videogames because the stuff I play is either old, obscure, or both. Like I'm not interested in talking about or playing Fortnite or Minecraft lmao, I'd much rather just hear about weird obscure shit only 3 people have heard of. 0 Share this post Link to post
SirPootis Posted August 30 One of the big ones for me was Crystal Castles. I only first heard of them in 2012 or so, right around the time they released their third album. Their sound was an entrancing juxtaposition of glitchy bitcrushed synth melodies combined with Alice Glass' strained and emotional vocal delivery. High school me fuckin loved Crystal Castles. And then when they broke up in 2014, I was confused and saddened but figured they did it out of creative differences. I wish I was right. Hearing of the allegations of Ethan Kath sexually, physically, and mentally abusing Alice Glass on a seemingly regular basis during their tenure sickened me so much so that I couldn't (and still can't) get myself to listen to their works without thinking of the pain she went through while making those tracks. 0 Share this post Link to post
