Mitnal is such a dope level and captures that old school ZDoom vibe for me. I remember first playing it years ago when I was browsing doomwadstation. Brings back good memories of browsing all the different Doom wad websites when I first got into Doom in the late 2000s. It was always a good time finding great levels from different corners of the internet, and I remember visiting doomwadstation, DLW, and wadsinprogress all the time, finding some awesome WADs I've never recalled seeing on idgames or DW (could be hugely mistaken of course as this was years ago). It was cool having so many different avenues to experience the map making scene at the time, and I still check out DWS when I'm feeling nostalgic and find some really cool levels (and some detailed reviews from Bob Larkin himself) that reminds me of more simpler times.

I'm glad you enjoyed this map. Of course, I didn't design it for any specific port so it could work with many but I thought it really displayed best in Risen3d. I did take a poke a Zdoom specific maps early on but I always felt that a map should  be playable in whatever port you enjoyed the most. :-)

Been playing through Gardervoir's Ultimate Doom II mapset recently. I love the attention being put into actually contextualizing the space of the levels a lot more while still keeping with the abstract nature of the original maps. in the shots I've posted it looks like MAP05: The Waste Tunnels was an unfinished construction project to hollow out the earth to build an underground UAC base or water treatment facility/sewer of some kind before the demonic invasion. the ambiance is a nice contrast from how much more difficult it is compared to the original gameScreenshot_Doom_20240713_170131.png.39ec9b2c7370cb679cde20dda734a094.pngScreenshot_Doom_20240713_170139.png.27f748aaec5c39861964fbcb11f51d03.pngScreenshot_Doom_20240713_182512.png.80948bf3815d2e1e37211e8b9993dc15.png
