Job Posted April 14, 2003 My friends call 'em gibs, so do I. But they pronounce it "gibs" with the "g" like "give". I pronounce it "jibs". How do you guys pronounce it? 0 Share this post Link to post
Ichor Posted April 14, 2003 Gibs, as in "great big gobs of greasy, grimy gopher guts". 0 Share this post Link to post
BlueSonnet Posted April 14, 2003 I've been told you pronounce it Jib but it tend to feel Gib has more of an impact. 0 Share this post Link to post
Rotting Corpse Posted April 14, 2003 "Gibs" I wonder if stands for some thing. 0 Share this post Link to post

Sharessa Posted April 14, 2003 I say 'gibs' because the first time I ever heard it, my friend was telling me about this Quake mod where you could make you gun shoot 'gibs'. I was like 'what the Hell are gibs?'. Despite the fact that I know it's short for 'giblets' (pronounced with a 'j' sound), my friends and I still say 'gibs'. Its funny, because some of the people I know have actualy reversed this and now say 'Giblets'. 0 Share this post Link to post

myk Posted April 18, 2003 Not necessarily. Pronouncing giblets with a g seems to be acceptable: http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?giblets Thus gibs is OK. 0 Share this post Link to post

I know someone who has the last name of Gibbs. :p Back on subject, I pronounce it as 'g'ibs, although it really doesn't matter to me how people pronounce it. 0 Share this post Link to post
sargebaldy Posted April 18, 2003 never understood why anyone would call them "jibs", when they're spelled Gibs and is short for giblets (or so i thought) 0 Share this post Link to post

So it was only natural that I pronounce them that way. That's my justification. 0 Share this post Link to post
