My friends call 'em gibs, so do I. But they pronounce it "gibs" with the "g" like "give". I pronounce it "jibs". How do you guys pronounce it?

"Gibs" I wonder if stands for some thing.

Short for "giblets", like the innards of a fowl.

I say 'gibs' because the first time I ever heard it, my friend was telling me about this Quake mod where you could make you gun shoot 'gibs'. I was like 'what the Hell are gibs?'. Despite the fact that I know it's short for 'giblets' (pronounced with a 'j' sound), my friends and I still say 'gibs'. Its funny, because some of the people I know have actualy reversed this and now say 'Giblets'.

I know someone who has the last name of Gibbs. :p Back on subject, I pronounce it as 'g'ibs, although it really doesn't matter to me how people pronounce it.

never understood why anyone would call them "jibs", when they're spelled Gibs and is short for giblets (or so i thought)

I've always heard "giblets" pronounced with a 'g' that sounds like a 'j'. So it was only natural that I pronounce them that way. That's my justification.
