Even if im interested, and like the overall stetic of it, i think it was a good call the reboot. On the gameplay leaks it looked more CoD, that was the stuff that everyone where copying at the time.

 

Still, the atmosphere looks amazing and I would like a more gritty DooM. But I guess we still have to wait for this trilogy to end and then pass some time before another try at shaking the formula.

Nothing about this looks fun. Very happy they scrapped it.

If only someone had stepped in and scrapped Rage and Doom 3 before release too. What an awful era 2000-2015 was for id.

being a fan of ID and Doom 4 in 2010 must've been The Dark Ages. Well at least 2010 gave us other cool shooters like black ops and bfbc2. Still sucked DOOM laid dormant.

To me that era of id was like watching Michael Jordan with the Wizards. It was a sobering moment where you realized your childhood hero just didn't have the juice anymore. To go from Wolfenstein, Doom, Doom II, and the Quake trilogy to Doom 3, the phantom Doom 4, and Rage was just bewildering and sad. Every bit as sad as Romero and Daikatana.

 

I was terrified when Doom 2016 finally released. I'm so thankful they did such a great job with it (and later VFR, Eternal, and Ancient Gods).
