lunchlunch Posted May 30 (edited) Imitation is the unironic-est form of flattery. Little Italo is a tribute wad featuring ten maps each from @raddicted and myself. Generally these maps are a little shorter or easier than the original's, but don't expect a beginner-friendly wad... these are still challenge maps directly inspired by Italo Doom's general philosophy. Odd-numbered maps authored by raddicted Even-numbered maps authored by lunchlunch Screenshots - Spoiler We are super grateful to @Cammy for touching up and balancing all MIDIs in this WAD as well as @LPad for helping solve some of the technical issues that arose in the process. Many thanks to our playtesters: @Arbys550, @knifeworld, @RedBoule, @suzerduzer, @Xulgonoth, @besus, and @Meowgi Download - littleitalo.zip Edited September 2 by lunchlunch 72 Share this post Link to post

Kinetic Posted May 30 Notes: - Avocado smoothie softlock after blue key switch, can run into back area with no way of getting out - Euro Sleaze: SSG would be nice :D, and crusher on first cyber - softlock in Total Douche Spoiler Favorite Maps: - Avocado Smoothie - Euro-Sleaze - Pistol Gangbang - Dont Faze Me Bro - Absolutely Not - God is Deadass - Blow and Foreign Banknotes (Best map title, best map in the set, best music in set, prettiest map) - Mia Khalimba Overall it feels almost exactly like Italo, great job on making it feel like Italo DLC. Loved a lot of the transforming geometry, and reuse of space and the super low and small linedef counts on some maps. 5 Share this post Link to post
dashlet Posted May 30 Im playing through it right now and its super fun. It is indeed the italo doom formula but a bit more easier and less grindy which its super fine by me. So far all the maps have been great. The texture themes are also on point and so the midi selection. Map01 has that shocking start already, but it feels nice that at least i can move around and play for a bit instead of instantly dying over and over again, the same goes for the others maps. Feels good to have the music again been completely muted by the sounds of scream and chaos, even if the midi is already loud haha. 3 Share this post Link to post
taviow Posted May 30 gg started playing this I got a bug report on map01 - the ALLBLACKF sector in the end there is non-damaging and a softlock currently. Not sure if on purpose but I sort of assume it's supposed to kill you. Back to playing, grats on release. 1 Share this post Link to post
Treehouseminis Posted June 2 Glad these maps are short because Im not a great player lol. With saves Im having a great time. It did take me a while to figure out how to exit map04 though, I thought I was softlocked until I tried rocketing myself at the right angle on the exit pillar... 1 Share this post Link to post
Arbys550 Posted June 2 I'd definitely recommend this mapset! I had a lot of fun playtesting it 1 Share this post Link to post
Astro X Posted June 3 Italo enthusiast here, even though I haven't really played it xd maybe I should start with this one instead since it's quite literally its little brother. I wonder what its bigger brother would look like, probably something very mean. 1 Share this post Link to post

siege cunt Posted June 3 Amazing mapset, was so happy for the first midi. Minor comment: Italo NOMO places tons of cyberdemons on map 1, it's hilarious, perhaps consider doing so since you used italo's difficulty names 2 Share this post Link to post
lunchlunch Posted August 4 (edited) RC2 is now out, addressing a few bugs/balancing issues, and featuring touched up versions of all MIDIs in the wad, done by @Cammy with some help from @LPad! Huge thanks to them for cooking these up in the laboratory for us. Link up top updated. If no issues arise, this will be the version uploaded to idgames.
