Recommended Posts

i tried ICQ agian and now i see why i trashed it and burned the floppy i had it on. try a random search for a commical effect. 80% of the users are spambots for porn sites. i find it funny because i remeber when ICQ use to have a use, other than spam.

i hope AIm dont get that way

I used ICQ when I was in my old Quake TF clan. During that time, I have not recieved a single spam message of any kind. Once they broke up, I didn't have any use for it, so I got rid of it. That was close to five years ago and I haven't used it since.

I still use trillian on the ICQ network and I only get a spam message every once in a while, like one every few months and I have 66 people on my contact list. Of course I have no first name, last name, or e-mail entered. And I have a high ascii char in my nickname. I also tweak the security settings to my liking and don't enter my number in forum or post it anywhere.

I used to use it, but being flooded with 5,000 spam bots per day got a little old.

I've never really gotten anything in the way of ICQ spam using Trillian. Unfortunately my spam doesn't get redirected to my hotmail account anymore, so I still have to deal with a fair amount of junk email on a regular basis.

I have Trillian, and I get more spam on MSN than ICQ.

MSN gets spam?

I haven't used ICQ for years, mainly because it sucks.

Fuck ICQ, AIM is way forward.

But, as Lüt protests, I seldom even use that ;)
