Master Demon 64

Who is FreeDoomguy?

Recommended Posts

If I remember correctly his appearance was inspired by Doomguy from Doom movie; first one, not Annihilation (of game movies' reputation)

Pretty sure he was based off of Karl Urban. The Freedoom Discord server calls the emojis :karlx: too, if I remember correctly.

Wow I didn't know that.

Personally, just like actual Doomguy, I'd keep his actual identity kind of vague besides one flashback sequence showcasing how he ended up in an AGM cell.

In this case, instead of assaulting an officer for forcing him to commit warcrimes, he's instead a death-row inmate transferred over to that world, intended to be one of the latest experiments.

What was his crime? Well, Let's just say Earth is no longer a place to have any kind of meaningful opinion. Less IngSoc-y, and more MegaCity-One-ish. Which is probably subjectively worse.

He has the benefit of being one of the "spared" upper members of an attempted rebellion. Watching every one of his squad die, or somehow be executed, while he's the only one left to be injected with a special kind of concoction that should've turned him into "a living weapon", but he instead kept his will while gaining Captain-America-style powers that would keep him going the whole way.

Luckily for him, a planet-wide outbreak occurs, and his chance to escape finally comes into fruition with E1M1.

Hell, his motive for returning to Earth would probably be either a dog instead of a rabbit, or an actual human loved one, daughter probably. He was probably expecting a body somewhere (whatever was left of it), but their faith is completely ambiguous to keep his neverending quest and motive for fighting demons/bio-abominations going. Because he's already been through circumstances that would motivate him less to continue to be the Boogeyman of Hell, taking endless vengeance out on the shores of the 9 rings in countless worlds, and more of the "knowing the only thing that kept me holding on to life might still be breathing out there somewhere" to keep him on his feet, bouncing through countless worlds, searching for a sign of life with all the clues left behind.

But that's just my contribution to this discussion. If it needs work, feel free to state your meaning.

I don't know friend, I'm just using a translator to talk to you.

This is quite interesting.
