Jimmy² Posted July 2 (edited) Voyager EP is a single-player/co-op WAD containing five adventurous, space-themed maps, offering a wide range of gameplay experiences ranging from fierce action to gentle exploration. Each map took direct inspiration from one of the five tracks featured on Tristan Clark's Voyager EP, released in 2021. This mapset was created to show our appreciation for @Tristan and his extremely respectable body of work, musical and otherwise, and additionally to commemorate his 27th birthday this July! Truthfully, I wanted to release a set like this exactly one year ago, but Life™ got in the way. Special thanks to the mappers who got involved with this project with me, @Dragonfly for testing, and of course to Tristan for being such a MIDI magician all these years. Happy birthday, mate! 🎂 (Go buy his music! https://tristanclark.bandcamp.com) ----- Download "Voyager EP" (11.4MB):DSDADoom or GZDoom required./idgames Mirror ----- Name: Voyager EP Map Format: MBF21 Ports Tested: DSDADoom 0.27.5 and GZDoom 4.12.2 only. antares031 Posted July 3 Voyager EP is an absolutely beautiful album. I'm glad to see a mapset with it, besides one of episodes of my ongoing project. Happy birthday! @Tristan 4 Share this post Link to post

It's not really down, something just seems to have messed the link up and it won't open because of that. RICHIE B Posted July 3 (edited) So, that's what that date means in Map 32 Charge! Well Happy Birthday! 27, still your whole life ahead of you. Just a reminder, especially to myself, that Tristan is also a damn good mapmaker too. Downloading Now... GASP - That's a Hot Start isn't it?? Edited July 3 by RICHIE B 1 Share this post Link to post
galileo31dos01 Posted July 3 (edited) Looks colorful, feels joyful, plays greatful. A happy birthday to Tristan as well! Couple FDAs in dsda 0.27.3. It seems I needed a reboot on that 2nd map to start computing properly. voyager_FDAsbygal.zip Spoiler Would offer a hint to the secret fake wall in map 01, unless there is one and I didn't see it. You might find it by accident (I IDDT after a while of looking for hints), I think no player should miss the secret yobby although I know it's an inside reference. Bytefyre Posted July 3 Heya Jimmy! I just caught Vile playing this...looks pretty cool! As a small contribution, here is a DSDACR lump (in the attached ZIP) you can embed in the WAD to fix the ex hud colors in DSDA-Doom 0.26 and above. Any PWADs which do full color replacements in the PLAYPAL need something like this or else missing colors will default to gray. DSDACR.zip 2 Share this post Link to post
RICHIE B Posted July 3 (edited) Well, just finished it. Really good it was. BRAVO! The surprise visit from Spoiler the family of a special secret enemy we've seen just once before (I think) Spoiler If you REALLY want to have it spoiled... Spoiler A horde of the special Gold Astral Cacodemons that appeared in Map 32 Eviternity II!! made my day. Of the 18 custom wads I've completed, this was most similar to Antaresian Reliquary. Which is strange cos there was no Antares here. Think that'll make an ideal present. Happy Birthday Tristan! 1 Share this post Link to post
Obsidian Posted July 3 Oh hey, it's the little Noir status bar I made for ASS59! :D Congrats to you and the team for getting this done and dusted and a rousing Happy Birthday to Tristan. 3 Share this post Link to post
galileo31dos01 Posted July 3 Completed this a few hours ago. Really nice stuff, the love you all put into this is commendable. The custom content was awesome too, references and throwbacks and reappearances and all. Thanks for sharing! Spoiler In map 04, I totally missed the point of this secret place here, since there weren't pickups or something obvious to do next, I'd just walk backwards and teleport back to the start. Styxvile did the same on his stream I think. It didn't occur to me to go to the void, silly me, there's only two ways to go! Checked this hidden place minutes ago, I should have known I was missing a yobby in the map. Perhaps an arrow on the floor or some sign to tell you where to go, but it's okay, it's not difficult to figure out other than the initial confusion. BTW, you can shoot the yobby in the first map from another angle and the message pops up on screen. Not to worry though, it's a very minor observation, or perhaps I suppose the sector could be protected by invisible walls which disappear as you stand on the intended place to snipe the yobby. I didn't want to assume the white goo on the console in map 05 was what I thought it was, but then I read the door and, yeah. What I will assume is that the particular yobby chosen for this particular secret wasn't a mere coincidence. The animated skies are B E A U T I F U L 1 Share this post Link to post

Jimmy² Posted July 4 @Obsidian Ah so that was you! I'll add your name to the credits text file, sorry for missing your name out. @galileo31dos01 Thanks for the reports! Will fix the shooting issue in MAP01. @Bytefyre Many thanks! Have added the lump you've provided. 2 Share this post Link to post
Hebonky Posted July 4 here's a weird visual bug in map 03 with the fake floor bridge with openGL rendering 0 Share this post Link to post
Tristan Posted July 20 Forgive the bump but I wanted to acknowledge this here on DW too, not just on Discord :) Now that I'm back home I've just finished my second playthrough, naturally I had to find all the yobs! This was a massive surprise to me when I found out about it, I knew Dunn was charting Voyager for Clone Hero but a whole mapset for it was completely unexpected! I very much appreciate you guys taking the time to make this and I love the end result, it captures the spirit of the EP very well, especially MAP03 which I think is my favourite of the set (all 5 are great though!) To Jimmy and the Beefwhistlers, thank you so much for this, and thank you to everyone else for the birthday wishes! 15 Share this post Link to post
