MrFlibble Posted August 7 (edited) This is a project similar to HacX 1.2 for DOS, allowing to play REKKR 1.16a and above (PWAD version) as a stand-alone game under DOS, with binaries based on MBF Maintenance Release 2.04: dosrekkr.zip - binary package, requires the REKKR PWAD to play (alternate download: dosrekkr.zip) rekdos_s.zip - source code, needs to be compiled with @ludicrous_peridot's modified Allegro 3.0 library (alternate download: rekdos_s.zip) You can use either the patched v1.16a PWAD or the newly-released v1.17.3 PWAD. The port should provide a fairly accurate vanilla experience while offering a few improvements, such as various vanilla bug fixes, optional enhancements and QoL improvements (like being able to disable the vertical mouse axis from an in-game menu) and, being based on MBF, up to three helper dogs to accompany the player (they are turned off by default): I also used MBF's option to customize automap colours to create an imitation of the Sunken Land automap, which in turn is just GZDoom's Heretic-style automap: Edited September 30 by MrFlibble : version update 6 Share this post Link to post
MrFlibble Posted August 8 A complete ready-to-play package with the patched v1.16a PWAD can be downloaded here, and you can play in the browser from that page via JS-DOS too: https://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/rekkr Please note that game performance in the browser may be unstable and/or slow because of JS-DOS' limitations. However, I played for a bit in the browser just a few moments ago (completed E1M1 and E1M2 on Wrecker) without noticeable issues. The port works nicely in local installations of DOSBox and should work on real hardware as well, although this is untested ATM. 2 Share this post Link to post
MrFlibble Posted September 30 I've updated the downloads, there are mostly minor fixes/tweaks, and the startup message now shows v1.17, for the most recent version of REKKR. There have also been potential issues because of the DEHACKED lump in the miniwad data file, I've removed the lump altogether to avoid issues. The file is now called data1.wad. 2 Share this post Link to post
