Where can I find a list of everyone involved with Legacy of Rust? Only a few maps in, but it's great so far.

If you're on PC, loading a map will print some information about the map, including author, on the developer console (`).
Aside from that, I don't know.

>The audio settings are confusing. Specifically, the "Original" and "MIDI Synth" settings. I have NO IDEA why "MIDI Synth" is here, nor what it does. It doesn't access my VirtualMIDISynth, so I am assuming it's using Windows's base MIDI? I dunno. I am assuming it's here because of the addition of the new "Mods" menu. Then again, why is "Original" here than? Just use my fucking MIDI anyways. Why give me two of the same fucking options when they both are practically the same thing?

MIDI Synth plays the music using GUS (Gravis Ultrasound) patches, which are included with the engine. GUS emulation is quite accurate to actual GUS hardware, but the GUS instruments themselves are not volume balanced against the SC-55, and I believe the GUS doesn't have the same volume curve that most midi devices do. So expect some instruments to sound like they're playing too loud sometimes, especially distorted guitars.

Original is recordings of the original midis on an SC-55. This is why there's a fallback option -- pwads with custom music won't have SC-55 recordings of it.

It's a bit weird there's no option to use the system midi.

Trying to log into Bethesda.net in the GOG version without the GOG Galaxy client crashes/freezes the game. I also encountered a crash for just getting into the Mods menu. Low MIDI volume playback also appears to happen on PC too sadly.

At some point that research is necessary.

Yes, that point is when someone reports it. They're not going to just systematically research every WAD uploaded.

Getting a strange error trying to start this on Steam.  It's asking me to agree to an EULA, which is fine, the problem is I can't.  It says error loading the EULA please try again, and then it's basically just a loop of that not working.  This happening to anyone else?

You can accept the EULA without reading it. I ran into this as well, seems just to be a Steam listing issue.

I suspect this port was developed primarily with consoles in mind, given the fact there are a few strange omissions here and there, such as the one you mentioned and being unable to bind keys to the Save and Load menus (only quicksave and quickload are bindable). Plus, there's this bug in which controller prompts show up whenever you press Esc and click on Save Game.

I'm sure Nightdive will be awesome and expand on QOL stuff, as they always do.

I think it ought to be the latter way (approval by moderation before it even shows up for others to download) because the current state is 12+ pages where 95% of them don't work or are stolen, and it has been up for just a few hours. Some curation before report is necessary, because it's only going to get worse over time. "Launches into a map without crashing" should at least be a hard requirement before publication.

If you're afraid to give a moderation team all that work (which they would have to do anyway when 95% of all uploads get reported) then it could instead be a Mario Maker-esque system where the game client requires the uploader to finish a level or something before it will let them upload it, to pass some kind of baseline of function.

I would even be strict enough to require the whole wad can be completed by the user before upload, but I know that is somewhat unreasonable for megawads.

EDIT: On the subject of reporting, "the mod doesnt work" or anything else related to technical issues is not even a selectable report reason.

You know... I think it woulda been neat if the GBA DM maps were ported too.

I'll admit, they're not good enough for most people, but I like them, and it still would be nice to have.

Playing a scuffed remake of "DM4: The Bad Place" would be wonders in this remaster.

We tried playing them during development and found them to be quite unfun to actually play.

It's not weird at all, quite expected actually. System midi blatantly sucks to implement support for and could only exist in an extremely windows exclusive chunk of code.

There should also be a way to prevent people from uploading duplicates, since I've noticed that's kind of a problem with it as well. Ideally, the wads should be uploaded by the creator of that wad or someone who has permission from them to do so. There's already been copyrighted/commercial stuff uploaded there without permission (Hexen was on there earlier, even), so it's not great.

No hud-less fullscreen setting?

Also, when I open the menu, it gives me controller prompts when I don't have a controller:

It only switches to keyboard keys after I press a directional button or select a menu option

This sucks.:/

They removed the original IWADs (DOOM2.wad) from the GOG download of all available versions and replaced them with an updated version (doom2.wad). So on GOG I can no longer buy/download the original IWADs, only the updated ones... What the Hell?!

Ok, you can still download them as part of the Doom II+Master Level combo. Phew.

Im guessing they werent ready for day 1 and will be available in the port later on.

Night Dive have a bit of a proclivity for including a few things in their vaults that aren't viewable in the game itself, specifically for nosy modders to find. See also: The "old" maps folder in Quake 2 and the "to_add" folder in Dark Forces.

This update quietly dropping bringing so much new content to the community, a SP and MP megawad, and all that unreleased material, it is freaking awesome. One of the coolest things that has happened so far with the official port. I am extremely impressed by all the unreleased content they decided to share, lots of stuff that we have never seen before, not even through the many leaks by Romero.

Great day to be a doomer.

This is SO COOL. Genuinely a great port!

my ONLY critique is, the default midi synth is, uh, not great at the moment. (sounds way too harsh.) hopefully that can be fixed in the future.

I'm still able to see and download "DOOM II + Master Levels" in my GOG account, which includes the original DOOM2.WAD (identical md5sum). Likewise for Ultimate Doom. It's possible the conversion/upgrade whatever got botched somehow, but it looks like you are meant to still have access to the originals.

Steam version seemingly still has the original wads so yeah it probably was botched on GOG but I imagine it'll get fixed soon

Yeah, I saw that just now myself. Thank god. Otherwise I would have had to make a Steam account!

I haven’t dropped by for about a decade but was hoping someone could answer a question for me.  I own the series x version of this.  Can I upload wads and if so what format?  I know it said boom.  How about old Zdaemon wads?  Zdaemon was the port I made maps for.  So was curious.

I was more considering a remaster of Quake 3 with an ACTUAL singleplayer campaign with true to god enemies rather then the joke of a tutorial with DM bots the singleplayer is in the original Q3
