How do I upload mods to the new 2024 update?

Recommended Posts

I've been looking for HOURS on bethesda.net for the "upload" button and it does NOT EXIST. Everyone else seems to be doing this with absolutely no issue, but I cannot upload a mod no matter how hard I try. HOW DO I DO IT? I've wasted hours of my life on this, why can't they just make it clear and simple?

You cant upload through bethesda.net, you have to upload your wads ingame. There's an upload button in the mods part of the main menu.

It is done ingame, not on Bethesda.net, the interface is intuitive, so I'll just tell you to have some higher resolution images of your WAD's TITLEPIC/INTERPIC or the like for the preview images ready, as well as at least 1 screenshot

Also keep in mind that in order to upload mods to bethesda.net, you must have first agreed to the ZeniMax Code of Conduct, which forbids you from uploading mods that you don't own the rights for. So uploading mods that you didn't make breaks the agreement, and they could potentially terminate your account and ban you from the game, etc. as noted in the agreement.

Ok thanks all. I only wanted to upload my own mods for people to enjoy on console. I have one more question though, do dehacked files not work? Because level names are not loading correctly for my mate on console.

Use UMAPINFO for that, the new port supports it

How can I structure my UMAPINFO so that it works properly?

There is a UMAPINFO designer app on the forums by @JadingTsunami, and I have made empty UMAPINFO templates for mappers to use that are preformatted for ease of use, you just need to drop in your own changes like removing map entries that your wad doesnt have, entering the names into the name field, that kind of thing. Also consult the Doom Wiki article for clarification on things. I found that studying other's UMAPINFO implementations in various modern wads was the best way for me to learn it, so you can give that a try too if you like.

I've got a new issue here. I've uploaded 3 different versions of my mod and only one of them is showing up. Each one appears in my steam upload section but only one of them appears available for download and in my playable mods folder. What is going on here? Why are the other two uploads not available?

maybe because uploading three different versions of your mod is stupid and they got deleted? at least, i hope that's the case

This is not a helpful response. It is also incorrect, and further more you have no idea what you're talking about. You do realise that some different variants of mods are entirely different from each other, right? From level design and so on. That's why different builds have different build numbers. Some mods come in chapters too. Part 1 and part 2. Not really the same mod, are they? Entirely different versions that share a title.

If you have nothing useful to add,  don't bother posting. Thanks mate.

EDIT: Furthermore, the issue isn't just with uploading different versions of the same mod, either. It also has happened when I have updated a previous upload with a bug-fixed version. It is stuck forever in "validating". Unyet somehow, nobody is talking about this issue. This is a problem that needs a solution.

Thanks for sharing, posted it on the Steam discussions as well.

I'm having issues as well. I've uploaded a short doom 2 wad from in game and it tells me it published my wad but it is nowhere to be found. What is the issue?

I'm surprised nobody has made a bigger noise about this. It has happened to three of my uploads so far. Other issues I've found:

  • My update to my original upload is stuck forever in "validating" mode. It never updates.
  • My other upload, a single 100% vanilla map, is completely broken and unbeatable. It's perfectly fine on all other sourceports.
  • When I updated one of my mods to have a UMAPINFO file, it wouldn't boot up at all anymore.

Lots more.

I've found the issue with my upload. It wouldn't publish because I had the word "ass" in the description. If only they would've communicated that to me directly.

My mod upload, a single player wad, is stuck in "validating" mode. There's no profanity in the description. I don't get it. There's no indication of what the problem is. It's been in "validating" mode for three days now. Anyone got any ideas what's going wrong?

I've got the same problem. Mine's been stuck validating since the 12th.

I had issues too. Some linedef actions stopped working and I had to select a tag (for simple door) where GzDoom worked fine without one. My map name is gone as well. You can test maps before uploading with -file yourwad.wad command after doom exe. I would also look on Bethesda mods site and check everything and publish the mode if it does not show already as published.
