An Eviternity (Official) has appeared by "TheEviternityTeam", anyone know if it's legit?

It unfortunately doesn't define episode selections so I'm a little skeptical.

I hope it updates at some point with a UMAPINFO; the original WAD did have episode definitions for ZDoom so they are 'canon'

 

EDIT: MAP32 is also called 'Grosse' still. This appears to be a port bug because it's in the DEHACKED properly. It can be worked around by hitting 'Enter' at the end of the last line in the DEHACKED file to make the last line in the file an empty line.

You know... it might not be a bad idea to post the widescreen thread... lots of older projects have widescreen variants now that could be used in the Official port.

I spent hours fixing the wad so that the autodetect applies the "limit-removing" complevel (what I finally achieved), instead of reading the ID24 specs first (I didn't know it contained more global info, including the GAMECONF)

I also want to point out that this is a good idea. It will be pretty handy to have a list of projects in the form of a google document. Nice work. I'll post my other works later, but for now KEX Doom is extremely broken and there are problems with it.

It's possible that you may need to reupload/update your WAD post if you change your username, since the system doesn't automatically update the info.

So make sure to check that out once you rename your account.

I have a guess - because of the instability of the remaster, there are a lot of bugs in it now and every other custom wad breaks on it (I had even a vanilla map break). At the very least it will be necessary to spend time to test the whole Eviternity 2 on it.

As far as i am concerned: We don't. Ive suspected a lot of uploads were official, but this is merely an attempt at curating, atleast for the bigger projects out there. I can be reached at most places, so personally i prefer that.

 

If Scuba sees this differently since its his table list i am all open.

uh.

going down's map26 is totally broken in the remaster.

i get it, it's not an official release, someone just uploaded the wad as is, but that's a pity, i was hoping to complete it on xbox.

For the record, I changed my name, so while I started uploading my old releases, I may be credited on the Wiki differently. I prefer to keep it that way, if that's OK for you; the update over the Forest Fever thread should be enough proof.

 

Anyways, I (re)uploaded Uplink and Forest Fever and planning to submit the rest of my standalone releases too - plus, who knows, maybe a couple new releases, forgotten gems, etc.

Is there a manageable way we could submit requests for wads, either older titles for a curator like @Doomkid or @elf-alchemist or reaching out to currently active mappers for their mods? I have several I'd love to see on there but I can imagine pinging random people in different posts or repeatedly sending curators lists out of the blue would get tiresome/overwhelming, especially since repeat requests from different people are probably inevitable. I'm not in a place to maintain such a document myself, but I wonder if one of us could create some sort of requests form to put alongside the existing spreadsheet of uploaded mods?

 

EDIT: Also, does the port support custom .ogg soundtracks? I'd love to see stuff like Violence by Brayden Hart get added but the vibe wouldn't be the same with different music.

Part of the idea of uploading a ton of older community works by a few people is to beat the rush of low quality uploads. It solves a few problems... It's done properly with respect for the source and correct attribution, changes can be made easily because we know who it is, which also means the original author can easily request the removal of the upload if they want to curate their own upload.

The remaster supports OGG soundtracks, that's how the Remix and SC-55 recordings are played.

Check out the TRAKINFO lump in extras.wad for reference. Each midi lump is identified by a SHA1 hash, and then lumps corresponding to "Original" or "Remix" are specified. Those lumps can be oggs. By including your own TRAKINFO lump in your WAD you can specify your own midi to OGG mappings.

 

One caveat is that when the game loads your TRAKINFO lump, it forgets everything from the original, so if you use any of the stock Doom music you will need to copy those mappings from the original TRAKINFO lump too.

 

If the original WAD has only ogg music, that will also work automatically with no need for a TRAKINFO.

ah, correct me if i missed something, but why is Beyond Reality on the google docs list? that was specifically designed for zdoom ports lol
