CapersOnSalad Posted August 24 A thread for those who wanna vent about mapping, or share any unfortunate tales involving their creations. I just started getting back into mapping, and was making a level as an anniversary present for my partner. Once I got back into the groove of things, tragedy struck: I stepped on my laptop while in pitch blackness. The laptop being in its case didn't seem to matter much, the screen was doneso. Am now waiting for a replacement lcd to come in. My level is so close, yet too far away. 1 Share this post Link to post
bofu Posted August 25 Opened an MBF21 wad with 30+ maps in Ultimate Doom Builder on a second computer to make some minor changes. Ended up erasing all my Block players and Block land monsters lines because UDB opened it as a Boom wad and saved it as such. 4 Share this post Link to post
Chookum Posted August 25 I learned long after the fact that it's okay to just cut out big arena fights if they're too disruptive to the rest of the level's pace or tone. At least it's a lesson learned for the next maps and projects. 2 Share this post Link to post
Sneezy McGlassFace Posted August 27 Yeah, don't have your map opened in slade and eureka because it'll corrupt real good. Fortunately that happened to one of my earliest maps so i learned the lesson before it mattered too much. Also learned that the automatic slade backup file gets corrupted just the same so you can't rely on that at all. So either get git (pain in the ass) or my preferred method: map.wad map (copy).wad map (2nd copy).wad map (3rd copy).wad etc 2 Share this post Link to post
