correct me if im wrong,

Recommended Posts

When Doom 3 was first announced predicted min specs where GF 3, 256 mg ram 1.5 gig p4 or something along those lines. Is it not therefore reasonable to assume that therefore Most people will be able to play D3 without significant h/w upgrades.

On another note i dont know if anyone has seen the benchmarks at [h] ocp but it they show the FX 5900 ultra as THE doom card.

You're close, but it's probably 128 mb ram, 1 ghz, GeForce 3 for MINIMUM

256 mb
1.5+ ghz
GeForce 4 Ti 4600 or better

^--recommended probably

I thought it was said that the minimum vid card requirement is a GeForce, version 1.

yeah...I'll wait some more month and try to get a nifty 64bit Hammer system (if it'll be the race winner)...maybe a dual proc if available.
this plus a brand new ATI card (or nvidia/who knows), dvd burner, 1 gb ram (really sufficient unless you're trying to run oracle with 600 users on your system), 100-200gb HDD and a audigy2.

I already have a creative 6.1 and a tv card...hmmm...

the best is that I have not to save up money...this will just cost the half of my monthly salery. he he.

My 1.73GHz AthlonXP + 512 MB PC2700 RAM + Radeon 8500 64 MB won't play it spectacularly, but it should play pretty well all the same.

If you are referring to the tale of two unfortunate rock stars (which the :P indicates) it was Euronymous that died from a fatal skull fracture and Count Grishnack that went to jail for having caused that specific skull fracture with a dagger.

Well, Count Grishnack went on to make some pretty cool lo-fi ambient with some equipment he brought to his cell, but the loss of Euronymous is truly a shame.

Doom is using the full capabilities of DirectX-7-level hardware (Yes, I know its OpenGL), so thats GeForce256/ATI Radeon and up for minimum requirements. It was first presented at macworld on a GF3 :/

Nope, the game began development targeted at a ONE gigahertz geforce ONE minumum, your baseline specs are WAY too high

sure if JC will program a software renderer for his new baby.

maybe he'll do a nifty ASCII port with a text console. yeah:

O
-|-/
/\
cmd> move left
You see nothing.
cmd> move fwd
You see a hellknight raping a young female scientist in order to make those little weird baby bees.
cmd> shoot bfg
you've missed it and it killed you.
Game Over.
Spinning id-logo.
cmd>_

hmmmm....that would be great for my old 8086. I even could get d3 running on my former school calculator.
