All I have made is an adaptation, nothing else!
I don't have created a tower where there was no tower !
I just have permitted to the tower to appear correctly!

And I had been warned of it for several weeks by the Newdoom moderator, William Mull, because DLW had too many visits and too many zip downloads, and because the busy band saturated.
I wait that Doomcenter ended the works of improvement. As soon as it will be done, DLW will be hosted there, and you can download again all who is there...

As suggested, I used the services of a translator (in the occurence, those of the "Softissimo"), but I am not certain that their translation is better than mine...

Ok, I think I get it. OpenGL ports display some levels slightly different to the original software because they rely on tricks in the engine (texture/sky bleeding, tutti frutti effect etc), so what he does is modify the levels so they look right in OpenGL.

btw, you should use a lossless format such as PNG for screenshots such as this, not JPEG :)

PNG isnt Quicktime related at all, except that if you have it installed then Internet Explorer will use Quicktime to display PNGs. If you dont like quicktime then uninstall it, jeez

You should only use JPEGs for photos. I dont have a problem with the JPEG format, only its incorrect usage. JPEG is a lossy format (loses quality in the image), so if you use it for something like Doom screenshots then they end up looking like shit.

Isn't a GIF just a lzw compressed bitmap? That sucks because it's a copyrighted format. That's why there's PNG which is aiming to be better than it in every way.

Right now PNG is smaller than a similar GIF, but PNG can also have truecolor. PNG also supports alpha transparancies... which I can't wait to use on a website. =)

Kodak has a really nice lossy format that's better than JPG but I think it'll be a while before more people know about it.

While we're at it Quicktime is a completely obsolete sack of shit. Shitty quality and big file size. MPEG video should've killed that fuckin' lame horse dead FIVE YEARS AGO but for some Goddamn reason people keep on using it. Maybe if it had some decent codecs it would work somewhat well.

That's why you turn the JPEG compression off or set it to max quality in Photoshop when you save it. Then that blurry shit doesn't happen.

Yeah numbnuts but the file is still usually too large for widespread internet consumption. Fuck that. I was making a point. Um, something. Yeah. Godammit.

Oh yeah, if you're saving a file for yourself with one of them bigass programs save it in it's native format for God's sake. You keep all the layers and transparancies and usually even the undos as well. That and the file will still probably be smaller than a raw bitmap.

Or do as I do, simply don't let Quicktime take over image file associations. The only things I let Quicktime open are its native streaming movie formats.
