I had this idea BEFORE the Edge QDoom (I t hink, or was being made around the time it did). I just did a google search to find this.

Note email and AIM s/n in TXT do not work.

I think I played this .WAD before if I remember. Is it based on Quake II?

Yes, it has stuff from the first 2 Quake games. The original plan was for 32 maps, but I only got up to 12 and released as-is as I hit mapping block back in 2000.

The maps were scrapped but the release as-is is somewhere on the internet, which contains those maps.

Doesn't it have Metallica album covers as textures on the last map? If so, I think i still have it somewhere.

Yes, the maker was apparently a legacy and Metallica lover.

(no it doesn't require legacy, he just put that thing on the titlepic. It can be run with zdoom)

That's me your talking about. I made those maps. Also I don't like Metallica anymore due to Lars being a bitch about the P2P scenario.
