the cache is FUBAR

Recommended Posts

man i am useing this old, abused and damaged PC at my dad's house. Talk about strange errors. plus the fact that he uses AOL(GAYOL as it should be called) is not helping. one common error is when i click a link on doomworld, killfrog.com, or anyother popular site i go to i am pushed to a porn site. once i clicked the link to 3D downloads and was taken to the college cam, another time i clicked on the fourms section to end up at the gillian anderson porn library, last night i clicked to download the speedmap pack 7 and was taken to nasty naked nuns. well i cleaned out my cache, internet cache that is, to stop these horrible and annoying errors and all is fine for now. it just shows u how much my dad and bro look at porn on this computer. also the fact that it is 90+ degress and the computer is left in a closet, and left on for days at a time does not help either. they are too cheap to have me build a new one and i can repair this one for under $70.

Well, I am sure that this is not the fault of the hardware.
The problem is that the browser continiousely pulls out father´s info from the cache. The Mac version of IE is extremely nasty - maybe Bill´s lousy revenge (come on - flame me :), sometimes, after hitting the "clean chache" button a hundret times, it looks to me that only treating the harddrives surface with sand paper can erase the cache.

I have found my peace with this solution: I have placed the cache on a 30 MB ram disk, which becomes deleted every time I restart. So the cache has no chance for survival.

Caches are a real pain in the ass for me and other website designers since you'll search for a while and find and fix some sort of table tag error for example.

You'll then pump your fists in the air, feeling the sort of exhileration that is only felt after defeating Map30. On you go to the Reload button to view the splendidly fixed webpage in all its tabled goodness and nothing changes.

This will send you into a headspin about why you did not really find the solution (when you have). /me curses Nutscrape's and MacIE's cache systems.
