my doom3 system will be an athlone64 based system. many have asked why bother getting the 64bit CPU, "windows is not 64 bit." they say. well there is a 64-bit windows but its out of my price range. besides linux runs in 64 bit and will get the job done
i wonder if doom3 will use any of the 64-bit enhancments

John Carmack has stated that there won't be a 64-bit build of Doom 3. Though that was a long time ago, he might've changed his mind now.

In any case, Doom 3 will benefit from the extra memory throughput just like every other application, regardless of whether it's run in 64-bit mode or not.

it is mainly on the server end, opturon has been out a whiloe and is 64-bit. but that is basicaly a low to mid range server
even then i dout the whole thing is 64-bit, i am sure much of it is 32-bit

I wonder why 64-bit stuff is taking so long to catch on. There were 32 bit computers available 15 years ago. Time for a change. And there are 64-bit PowerMacs now. We just can't let those be better than our beloved PCs.
