You know, I dont mind their downloads. It's the fact that most of the files they have can be found on other servers at similar speeds. And yet when I type the file I want into Google, the first four pages or so all link to fucking File Planet. It's almost like they have a monopoly on files or something.

ok steam is ValvEs new multiplaying client. It lets you play betas of current mods and such, but the problem is that it sux ass, wastes space, and takes FOREVER TO UPDATE

Regarding File Planet (and indeed 3D Downloads), I've still never seen a decent explanation as to why getting an error message (because too many people are downloading off the site and the limit's been reached) or having appalling d/l speeds (same reason, but for a site with no limit, or one which is far too high) are prefferable to waiting in a queue.

use fileshack, I just registered for a 1-month mercury account for 95 cents and it fucking rocks. I got steam/cs1.6 without waiting on line and at over 700k/s and then I downloaded a whole mess of other crap just because I could

fileshack.com, and yes, but you're subject to queue lines and limited to 100k/s dls, 95 cents is like a special offer too, it's normally like 6 bucks a month I think

This has been discussed many times before, and I agree with nightmare. I'd rather wait in a queue and then actually get the file, rather than try and try and try and try and try and try and so on, possibly not getting the file at all.


And since I don't play HL online, I couldn't say much about steam. I've never even seen it in action, but it sounds like most people who have it don't get to anyway.

If your parents still won't agree to that, explain to them that you're going to get screwed on a purchase or transaction one day and it's better if it happens when you're spending a few bucks instead of a few hundred.

I only got screwed over once by Blade Realms, which is weird because the first order came without a problem. But since it was on VISA and they had numerous complaints with the local Better Buisness Bureu after they decided to just skip town, I got a credit back from VISA. Last I heard the local police were investigating the fraud.
