Sephiroth Posted October 30, 2003 Why havnt u loaded up your computer system with ungodly amounts of ram? not much money? Hey if u smoke stop for 2 weeks and u can buy about 1GB dont know how? putting it in is easy, goes in only 1 place and 1 direction. screw it up and you are a moron. however the trick is in selection, know what u need. dont think u need more? well i had ~650MB and just loaded to ~1.1GB. its cheap i payed 22 for each 512DDR2100. get it now before price goes up! yes rioght now is the time to get it. price is low and it will start to rise for holidays. honestly i dont know how some of you can stand to still be useing 64MB ram, there is alot of preformance you can gain with more memory. so what do you guys have? 0 Share this post Link to post
The Flange Peddler Posted October 30, 2003 I'm guessing the people with only 64Megs of RAM have older motherboards which you can't buy oddles of new RAM for so cheaply. 0 Share this post Link to post
Arioch Posted October 30, 2003 Have 1 gig of PC2700 right now, soon to switch over to 1 gig of PC3200. "Soon" as in "today." 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted October 30, 2003 saving up to build a AMD64 system right now. i am building a guy across the street a new system. selling it to hime for ~200, basicly bare bones. reusing stuff like CD-RW, bought last year and monitor. sadly i have to tell him, NO SMOKING and ashing near and on it! that killed to old system. traces on mainboad had been eaten by the ash/smoke and it had gotten cloged. i only hope i can salvage the CDRW, last i checked, it works. i will install a few filtration systems, but still. you shouldn't smoke near sensitive electronic devices 0 Share this post Link to post
Torn Posted October 30, 2003 320mb sd100/133, yes I know it is shit. :P I need a new computer some time. 0 Share this post Link to post
Remilia Scarlet Posted October 30, 2003 1 gig of DDR400 right now. Asus, I belive. I'll go buy another gig rather soon, if they market looks good. I know for sure my board will support at least one more gig, but it may support two more. I have to check again. In my laptop I have 521mb of some form of ram. 64mb in my other desktop of some older ram. A few kilobytes in my TI-99/4A, iirc. 0 Share this post Link to post
Fredrik Posted October 30, 2003 512MB two years old DDR something, planning to double it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Draconio Posted October 30, 2003 128MB. My comp's a bit on the elderly side. 0 Share this post Link to post
Darkstalker Posted October 30, 2003 384 Mo on my old computer and 2Go on my new. 0 Share this post Link to post
Disorder Posted October 30, 2003 512 MB DDR. Too slow for most recent games. 0 Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted October 30, 2003 Desktop machine: 1 gig. Best notebook: 256 megs. Psion: uh, 14 megs, I think. Calculator: 32 KB. 0 Share this post Link to post
The Ultimate DooMer Posted October 30, 2003 128 megs...which is kinda on the border really. So I voted 64-128 as my pc's a bit crap anyway. 0 Share this post Link to post
myk Posted October 30, 2003 Silly poll... you split the options more or less at the standard values (half the answers given on the thread meant two choices.) I have 128 here, 32 on the older machine. And no, a guilty "yeah, it's not much" isn't coming. 0 Share this post Link to post
fodders Posted October 30, 2003 I can remember when RAM was $60 per MEG! :P Can you imagine spending $60,000 for 1 GIG of memory? 0 Share this post Link to post

pritch Posted October 30, 2003 512MB Samsung DDR @ 333mhz. One vacant slot atm. Can add up to another 2GB when necessary. Old PC has 192MB of some old-fashioned RAM, upgraded from 64MB. Old Psion Series 3 has 1MB. Casio PC-Unite watch has 24KB :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Fletcher` Posted October 30, 2003 6gb hdd, 500mhz processor, 256mb ram. God I need to upgrade. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sephiroth Posted October 30, 2003 fodders said:I can remember when RAM was $60 per MEG! :P Can you imagine spending $60,000 for 1 GIG of memory? yes, i remember that. on our first system my mother was amazed she had saved enought to buy 8MB for our 486 system. she had to buy 2 sticks of 4MB and i think it cost her like 200 or something. however at $60 a meg it would be link 480 when i first learned how to use a system our school shelled out alot to have systems that had at least 1024k, 1MB and on the system i was useing they shelled out a ton of money. specs 386DX/33 4MB ram ~300 HD odd netowrking card dual VGA (no SVGA) card, used for demenstrations and such 387 (math co-CPU) that was like in 1988-89, we came here in early 1987. I remember being trained in BASIC and a few other languages. i remember writing batch files, and programing a rather complex robot that was horribly annoying 0 Share this post Link to post
kain Posted October 30, 2003 328 megs of sdram. i think its good enough. i dont really need any more. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted October 30, 2003 256 exactly...I voted for the higher one to make me feel better. Actualy, I have no need for more. I have no 3d card so it wouldnt help games out much, and my processor is a 700mhz Celeron, so it wouldn;t help other processes out either. I guess I COULD go up to 512, but I really dont feel like it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ultraviolet Posted October 30, 2003 kain said:328 megsTwo 128's or a single 256 and then a 72? Are you sure you don't just have 3 128's totalling 384? 0 Share this post Link to post

AndrewB Posted October 30, 2003 Another ridiculous, poorly-thought-out poll. Way to screw up with the options. 0 Share this post Link to post
destx Posted October 30, 2003 256 MB SDRAM I intend to get more next year when my finances balance out. 0 Share this post Link to post
