999cop Posted November 30, 2003 Does anyone know what the name of a ship that delievered bomb secretly in WWII is? I know this question may sound too vague, even for a search on Google, and unfortunately that is all the information I have copied down on my paper. So give it a try even if you have the faintest clue of what I am trying to look for. 0 Share this post Link to post
Erik Posted November 30, 2003 what a retarded assignment, who the hell cares about such specific and useless details? 0 Share this post Link to post
darknation Posted November 30, 2003 teh USS Indianapolis (sp unknown) They got torpedoed on the way back and the ship sunk. The mission had been top secret though, so no SOS was sent. Almost all of the crew got eaten by sharks. Check out the film Jaws for details (Quint's speech), but beware of the dates Quint uses. I'm pretty sure they are wrong. 0 Share this post Link to post

insertwackynamehere Posted November 30, 2003 Next year, I get to choose between to world history and C++/Java. Gosh, what a tough decision. 0 Share this post Link to post

Erik Posted November 30, 2003 History is nice, but a basic course should focus on the major events and the development of the world in general, not what some ship's name was. 0 Share this post Link to post
darknation Posted November 30, 2003 History is important. Learning from the experience (i.e. mistakes) of others is very important. 0 Share this post Link to post
insertwackynamehere Posted November 30, 2003 Yeah, but C++ is more interesting (IMO) 0 Share this post Link to post

World history is an academic class in here, which means it is required to take before graduation, and C++/Java is one of the electives we get to choose in my school It is good to learn about history that you can gain more experiences from the past to alter and sharpen your current perceptions of life, instead of holding up to your personally moral standards. Knowing C++ can fill in with more extensive computer knowledge, which is a good idea to help yourself to progress if you plan to go toward the technological direction in the future. In conclusion, it depends 0 Share this post Link to post

Bloodshedder Posted December 1, 2003 While studying history does have its benefits, remember that only the winners write the history. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted December 1, 2003 History Channel = best channel ever. The USS Indianapolis was the boat that transportes the Enola Gay or something like that. Or maybe it was an escort ship. 0 Share this post Link to post
Livo Posted December 1, 2003 No, it carried the uranium core of the "Little Boy" nuclear bomb to the island of Tinian, that was later dropped on Hiroshima 0 Share this post Link to post

Sephiroth Posted December 1, 2003 need i speak of the over religious mornic family my mother knows? none of these 8 kids can get nor ever will get a GED or diploma. they could only pass the reading/writing and basic 8th grade math. nothing more. history and science didnt exsist to these people. the mother pulled the kids out of the school, a very conservative catholic school, because a few teachers had said god damn. she decided to home teach them, the only profession these kids are doomed to, or capable of, is being priests/nuns. they could not even tell you when the civil war took place, nor who was involved and who won. infact one kid said he thought it took place in 1900, he was 17 years old for christ sakes. i knew about the civil war when i was 8. even worse was that they didnt even know when WW II took place, who was involved (other than america and japan) and they didnt even know korea and viatman took place. forget about them knowing of the holocaust. i filled them in on some history when a kid started talking about jews killing jesus. that night i kept calling him heir hitler, and the oldest daughter ava. they finaly asked why. and i filled them in. of cousre they didnt belive me, but as luck would have it they owned a computer. most of the internet was banned, but i got around it and decided to warp their brains for life by showing them images of WW II, and the holocaust. the mother was pissed about this. ironicly they want me to marry the oldest daughter, 20 years old, for what ever reason. i dont want to, hell no. these are the same people who gave a number of family members "english" names. though originaly the choose strict catholic names my mother changed their minds. I was named Scott, but its not my name i prefer to use my birth name when i can. though scott is my legal name my mother was named anna and so on. those kids will have those images burned into their fragil brains for ever. next time dont bash jews you fucking nazis, besides the romans kille jesus 0 Share this post Link to post

Ultraviolet Posted December 1, 2003 Shut up, Ling was probably using one of his sausage avatars when you joined, or even that explosion one. 0 Share this post Link to post

Livo Posted December 2, 2003 In Year 10 (year here = grade, so in 10th grade), my history teacher told us proudly: "The French successfully used Blitzkrieg against Germany in 1940" Me and the half of the class which had half a brain: "No, Germany used the tactic of lightning war against the French in that year!" Teacher: "Moving off the subject of France and Germany..." One guy later on asked (he wasn't being sarcastic, he was genuinely puzzled) "Sir, didn't the planes in the Battle of Britain like have to land and stuff? Did they fly non-stop for months?" Teacher: "Ummm, I don't know" :/ 0 Share this post Link to post
