What of the circles of hell? I saw an illustration once that mostly showed them as terraces, the bottom-most being the capital city, so to speak (but the hilarious part was that it, for the most part, looked like a where's waldo picture). But really I dunno a thing about them/how they relate to everything. The only thing I could've thought that even semi-closely resembled that was map30 of doom2, with the terraces.

There were nine of them, and there are nine levels in each Doom episode. Maybe a deliberate relation, maybe not.
