DooM remake for Half-Life

I am working on a mod for Half-Life it is a remake of DOOM, Iwanted to know if anyone would be interested in such a thing? and what features they would be interested in?

If I were you I'd work on something else; countless Doom remakes for Half-Life, Quake 3 and others have been started in the past, only to be shut down by ID Software's lawyers halfway through production :(

There's this thing called Doom 3 that's a remake of Doom. You might want to look into it.

[FOX15th]SHRIKE, before you start asking for help on your new mega-cool-and-whatnot project, make sure you have something to show first (screenshots, map downloads, etc). Keep in mind we've already seen thousands of upcoming projects that actually never got done.

wtf?! i made a thread like this too...

go ahead and do it, but make sure you create every single resource from scratch. don't copy and paste things, that's the biggest reason that people get shut down for. i believe it's called foxing, somebody will see this post and probably link you to info on what that is (i don't remember the links).

idea: give it a strong storyline and make it DOOM II instead of DOOM so it'd be more plausible to have NPCs like Marines and Civilians, which would be cool. also, monster weapons: severed imp arms, mancubus arms, et cetera. and if you do decide to do D2 then make a cooler Icon of Sin that isn't just a wall that sits there.

Sorry, but even if you created every single thing from scratch it would still get shut down. See the Q3 Reborn mod for evidence.

If you really want to do this, you'd have to make sure none of the resources even resemble anything specific from Doom. So no Imps, Arachnotrons, etc even if you create them from scratch. Doom-ish looking hellspawn of your own creation, e.g. a huge red demon with bat wings, are entirely fair game of course.

I have a screenshot from a Doom mod for HL (it looks damn good IMO) that someone here was making, but they said that they switched to using the Quake 2 source code as it offered them more options.

I have screenshots and 3 working levels made on the dod engine I will post them later today.

Oh and yes i have heard of doom 3, I knew about it long before you did. I didn't play doom since the day it came out and contined to play it every day to end up being a NEWB!

Some of these pics are of maps i have not yet complete. some have not been rendered with lighting. and some are useing the old texture files I could get into copyright issues. and some have the new remade textures from the z doom retexturing project that are all "LEGAL". click the link for a slideshow of them or click the other links for each image.

REMEMBER! this is on the dod engine i plan on making my own custom engine with better entities and node work, I want imps on walls and smarter enemies.

Yeah, sorry to burst your bubble, but this project WILL be shut down if you do get anywhere with it. It's not a matter of whether or not you created the material yourself. The "concept" of imps, demons, cyberdemons, etc. are all copyrighted. Same for the textures, as well, basically. Maybe use Freedoom textures? Just a suggestion. But you definitely cannot use Doom monsters.
