What's the most violent movie you have ever seen?

Recommended Posts

Irreversible. The movie features a scene in which Monica Belluci is raped for over several minutes, all shot in one single take. Quite disturbing. Saving Private Ryan was pretty gory too. Knowing that it actually happened made it even worse to look at.

I heard that Cannibal Holocaust is by far the most gory movie out there. I've seen more horrible things though. Things you wouldn't be able to find on DVD or VHS. If anyone has ever visited sites such as Ogrish or Rotten I'm sure you've heard of the infamous 'throatcut' mpeg. It features a Russian soldier having it's.. throat cut by Chechen rebels. It's not the blood or the look on his face what is disturbing, it's the sound of the young man gasping for air.

Cannibal Holocaust is banned in quite a few countries since they actually torture and kill live animals in the movie. I have no intention of ever seeing it due to this fact.

cannibal holocaust isn't really very good, in my opinion. it seems overrated.

cannibal holocaust, i'd forgotten about that and i cant remember any animals being done in but it has been a while. what i found most interesting about it is the way that you can see where "the blair witch project" came from....

i think a better definition of "violent" is more to do with intent rather than blood and body count. Event horizon is NOT a violent film, sure it has seens of hell and eyeball removal... very clear mistakes in my mind it could have pulled it off without resorting "showing the monster" and getting more hitchcokian/psycological instead (it's still one of my favourite films though)... the aforementioned Fight Club scene IS violence, it demonstrates a clear intent to destroy. so i think i'd have to go back on my samurai choice and choose "total recall". e.g. arnie impaling someone with a very large drill. that's violent.

I can't believe no one's mentioned Braveheart yet. Maybe not the most violent, but it's definitely up there. It's definitely worse than Saving Private Ryan.

As for sheer amount of blood, I always think of the scene in Nightmare on Elm Street where that guy (Johnny Depp I think?) gets sucked into the bed which literally acts like a blender, tearing him apart, and spits out a solid fountain of blood, much more than can possibly be contained within a human body, for over a minute. Very hilarious, yet strangely cool at the same time.

A lot of anime movies have excessive violence as well.

In no particular order:

Saving Private Ryan
Event Horizon
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Kill Bill
Braveheart

I want to see "The Ring" tho.

The most violent film is a tie between Final Destination 2 and Ghost Ship in my opinion. Ghost Ship was FUCKED UP. If you haven't seen that movie I'm not going to spoil it for you, rent it. Final Destination 2 (my favorite film, by the way) also contains many "Holy fuck!" gore filled violent death scenes. If you haven't seen these two movies and love gore and violence, please rent them. You will not be disapointed.

On the other subject at hand: I find Event Horizon violent. People were murdered, after all.

The most violent I've seen is probably the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I'm really not into horror movies but this is one good movie.
Battle Royal was also very disturbing, not so much because of the visuals but the sick plot.
Another really sick and absurd movie is Ichy the Killer. I rented this one because it had every possible warning on the cover.

I recommend watching the whole movie then, the last of the movie was pretty gorey in areas where they were ambushing the tiger tanks and shit but it was really gorey at the very beginning.
They were on Ohama Beach on D-Day, they were just running up the beach and getting slaughterd with Mg42's and mines... very gorey but also very good they did an excellent job on every aspect right up to the emotion on the soldiers faces in the landing craft before they hit the beach.

Fist of the North Star. It's anime.
It is so bloody and violent its like rated NC-17.
My dad and brother say this movie that was worse called (this is a guess) Uruchotamigachi that was so horrible they wouldn't let me see it but it was mostly because of porn.

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre did not contain blood, and if you don't believe me rent it.

Anyway, I was just thinking no one has said Scarface yet. It was pretty violent. ^_^

Yeah, that was pretty fucking gross. It was worse in the book, iirc.

In one of the first scenes the party picks up a mad hitchhiker who cuts his hand for no reason and then cuts Franklin. In both cases we see blood. The guy then gets thrown out and smears blood on the outside of the car.
:-)

Dude, Tobe Hooper is full of shit! I saw an interview with him about the new TCM and he swore up and down the original had no blood in it whatsoever and that anyone who says it did needs to rewatch it, especialy "the meathook scene." It's even on the IMDB.com (or was, it might be down by now.)

Everything was worse in the book. It was disturbing.

AFAIK, the most violent (and best!) movie EVER would be "Brain Dead" by Peter Jackson (or Bad Taste)

The manga version is hilarious and has the same amount of people's heads blowing up and guts being ripped out. It's hilarious in that crazy farfetched way.

I thought Black Hawk Down was a pretty violent movie. Oh and also Saving Private Ryan was pretty violent too.

Sleepy Hollow is rather gory, what with a headless horseman lopping off heads and a bleeding tree grown from the souls of the damned and the such.

I think we'll all have to agree no matter what Peter Jackson does there is going to be blood and gore. It still doesn't save LOTR's ass, but by god it sure does make his other movies better! (Braindead, Dead Alive (I kick ass for the Lord!), Meet The Feebles (= best muppets parody ever))

Dead Alive

This is without a doubt, the bloodiest (and stupidest) movie there ever was.
I mean it. All those other movies you mentioned are no where close.
I swear this movie was so ridiculously gorey, I really thought that the director had some kind of fetish for blood and entrails. Just don't let you kids watch it or they'll turn into serial killers before the movie is over. Hell there were parts of it, where I almost puked!
Not only is it sick and disgustingly bloody, but it's quite hilarious to watch as well. Its got everything from claydough animated rat monkeys to chainsaw ripping action. There's even a part where a guy takes a lawnmower to a roomful of people.

Some of you might not classify this as the goreyist, because it's not considered cruel, but damn oh mighty about 85% of this film is blood, guts, and chunks.

EDIT: originally I got the name wrong, so if you read this post before I edited it, read it again.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre comes to mind first.

Resident Evil was also kind of gory, but not as much as some movies I've seen. Besides, Resident Evil sucked, anyway.
