UnderGround Areas,Possible???

Recommended Posts

Ive had ideas floating around in my head after holes in the ground that u can go down and continue on while theirs still a wall in front of it.Is it possible to have a underground drop and continue on,

Or in other words.

Would u need to have the rest of the tunnels cieling level at 0 to match up the ground ur on before you drop?

If you're suggesting room-over-room (I cant tell with your use of non-english), then you cant do it in vanilla doom. You can try and fake it using moving sectors and such, but it really depends on what you're trying to do. Zdoom can fake it with silent teleports, as well as boom. Legacy has 3d floors or some such thing. But Im not too familiar with those.

If you mean a passage like this:

          wall
           |
           |
           | ground
           |h |-------------
           |o |
           |l |
           |e |
------------ |
--------------
  passage
then yes, all you need is 3 sectors. (ground, hole and passage)

And yes you can have floor and ceiling levels which go below 0 units high, or you can just put a roof texture over a room thats got a ceiling 128 units high and CALL it an underground area, and who will know?

From your editor is would basically look like this:

 __________________
| |
| |
| 1 |
| ______ |
| | | |
| | 2 | |
|_____|______|_____|
      | |
      | 3 |
      | |
      | |
      |______|

Sector 1 is 128, 0.
Sector 2 is 128, -256.
Sector 3 is -128, -256.

(Numbers are "ceiling, floor", respectively)

Adding on to DB's post, the numbers I used could be positive instead of going below 0, I just normally assume people start their levels at 0 and work around from there.
