OMG#"%!"#%ยค#" :P Well. I think Valve is trying to implement all the incredible things they promised. The leaked beta thingie showed how much they had lied about HL2. The levels were incredibly simple and linear, and the so-called AI was scripted almost all the way through. For instance, the scene where the Player walks into a house, closes the door and puts a desk up against the door so the 'monsters' can get in. A guy tried to kill the 'monsters' before walking into the house, but guess what, the door was still kicked open, even though there was no 'monster' to do the actual kicking. Very disappointing. 0 Share this post Link to post
Demonic Posted January 14, 2004 Im sorry but Im getting a little annoyed with all these promises for all these newer games that say they are coming out around a certain time and then get pushed back. I love Doom and can't wait until Doom 3 comes out but if they keep pushing it back it really starts to loss its flavor. Its kind of like when you tease your dog with a treat and keep teasing him until he just doesnt give a shit about it anymore. Thats kind of how Im starting to feel, not just about Doom 3 but other games like Halo 2 and Half life 2. Its a bad trend they are starting. But a couple of games I am looking forward to is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. oblivion lost and Far Cry they are no Doom 3 but looks interesting and best of all they are running on schedule. 0 Share this post Link to post

There's a leak of that game too. I have to tell that it was a major dissapointment when I tried it out. I just cannot understand what makes it so special. And some say that the engine beats even DOOM3 in some aspects. As for as I saw, or as far as the leak included, there was nothing than Quake 3 couldn't do. Yes, I know that it is far from beeing a complete game, but technologically it had nothing special :/ 0 Share this post Link to post
Arioch Posted January 15, 2004 Nobody (who mattered) promised you any date or time frame for Doom 3. Valve specifically and repeatedly said HL2 would be out on 9/30/2003, though. 0 Share this post Link to post

Demonic Posted January 15, 2004 I was not aware of a leak of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. And I was not comparing it to Doom 3 in anyway I know Doom 3 will blow it away. But I was pointing out that it will most likely be on schedule. Other than the delay and some other small complaints I think Doom 3 will be one of the best games to date(I hope anyway) except for the original Doom. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ichor Posted January 15, 2004 It had better be better than the original Doom. Doom was a great game and if Doom 3 was worse, I could consider it a serious disappointment. 0 Share this post Link to post

MaximusNukeage Posted January 23, 2004 i would rather wait additional months, rather than get a partialy unfinished product, or an ultra short game. 0 Share this post Link to post

Especially since this is the next Doom game - it'd be a real shame if it left a stain on the original's legacy. 0 Share this post Link to post

Just the graphics alone should be enough for it to NOT strain on its legacy. Regardless of how long the game is, I will buy it just because it's part of the DOOM series. That's what I get for being a purist. 0 Share this post Link to post

It's stupid to judge things on a leak. 0 Share this post Link to post
Mogul Posted January 23, 2004 Well... yeah, if an alpha or whatever is pretty early, then you can't pass judgment. However, if it's something that was "supposedly" farther along, like say... Half Life 2... then by all means, judge away! :D 0 Share this post Link to post

Yes true they never gave a specific release date but they were hinting about a end of the year release. And I'm sorry but I don't believe anything anybody tells me I believe it when I see it I'm from the show me state so show me DAMN IT!!! 0 Share this post Link to post

And if you judge a game by the leaked alpha then Doom 3 was not that impressive, the graphics are great but I did not see much beyond that. But from what I've seen and read about both games I think they will both turn out to be excellent games in their own respect. 0 Share this post Link to post

But from what I've seen and read about both games I think they will both turn out to be excellent games in their own respect. Heh.. I was not saying that Stalker will be a total bull'. It's just the thing that pissed me off when everyone arond told me so many big words about Stalker and its superb engine. As for my personal opinion then, yes, I'm curiously waiting that game. The story looks pretty interesting and engine is pretty OK and I was not only judging the thing based on that leak. I always had a doubt that the engine that so many people are praising isn't actually that good. As for me, it looks like the game has pretty good mod on ordinary engine. As for those leaks then Stalker's alpha was the most dissapointing because it offered nothing new. From Half-Life 2's leak I was waiting something less buggy for a game that was supposed to be released about soon. But it had some nice features like ragdoll and pixel shadered liquids. But actually this pixel shadering isn't anything new because I've now played more than a year a game called Morrowind with pixel shaders. Personally I find DOOM III leak to be most impressive due its shadowing techniques and such. That doesn't ofcourse mean that only DOOM III will be a good game. I am absolutelly sure that all of them will be very good games that I will be playing for years. I am not judging final games by these leaks. 0 Share this post Link to post
