Music extraction

Is it possible to extract music from a WAD? So you can listen to the music on winamp or whatever. :)

Yes. Use WinTex (or other) to extract the music files (called .mus) and then find a program to convert them to Midi/MP3/whatever.

Go to http://www.doomworld.com/classicdoom/utils/editors.php and scroll down to "Graphics, Sounds and Music WAD Editors".

Okay, every time I try to run Wintex.exe it says it requires some file called VBRUN300.DLL. What the hell is that?

You can use DeepSea instead of WinTex. DeepSea exports music files to *midi already, so you don't need to change their format.

WinTex exports to MIDI, in case you didn't know.

And, by the way, WinAmp can also play MUS.

I don't use WinTex, so I didn't knew. Is there a difference in MID and MUS on winamp?

WinAmp's standard MIDI input plugin will play both.
