Want to get into doom again...

Hello, first let me introduce myself. My name is sean, and im 14 years old. I remember playing doom when I was really young..my friends dad worked with computers and he would always let me and my friend play doom. Those were the good old days, when nomatter how hard we tried we couldnt open doom through DOS without his dads help. Well, a few 8 or 9 years later, and here I am wanting to play again. First, I have a few questions (i know there is the faq..but i just feel better having a topic about it). First of all, what is a good fairly easy to use level editor that I should get? Second, my comp is running windows 2000, and I have verizon dsl..is there anyway I can get online without having to pay for a service? 3rd, What exatcly are WADS. 4th, where is the best place I can get the original version of doom that would work on windows 2000. I know its alot of questions, but please help. THanks in advance.

1. Doom Builder has got to be one of the easiest to use level editors out there despite still being in development and being buggy. It's free and has a 3D mode to make texture aligning easy.

2. For good multiplayer sourceports look into Skulltag or ZDaemon.

3. WADs are the files that contain graphics, sounds, weapons, maps, etc.

4. Bargain bin, then download a good soureport like Zdoom or jDoom or something.

It would be useful if you could clarify what precisely you meant by that. Offering warez is an instaban offence, and if what you had in mind was all perfectly legal, then why not say it here, as it might be useful to other people?

Anyway, wasn't sean773 implying that he has the iwads already, but just lacks an exe that works in win2k?

Thanks for the help so far. Grazza, I dont have the original wad with the normal level, I only have custom ones. Ok, ill admit, i am running a warez version that i got and ti doesnt come with the original wad, but dont worry im going to delete it and buy the full versiopn. On ID softwares website, http://www.idsoftware.com/games/doom/doom-ultimate/ that is the oen with the original version right? sryr for typos im running late for school

Dont order from ID, they rip you off so bad it isnt even funny. Why pay 25$ for a game that is 10 years old when you can buy games such as MAFIA, Hitman, and other games for just 10$ that arent old at all?

Sure, we definetely owe ID a lot for their hard effort, but that will happen when we give 50$ for a copy of Doom 3.

I think it's better than ZDaemon, but it is still a work in progress. Internet Doom Explorer (IDE) is a good program for browsing CSDoom, ZDaemon, adn Skulltag online games. Doom Connector is currently in the process of being revived.
