Napalm 2.0 screenshots

Hi, some of you might remember a while a go I released Napalm 1.0
for edge 1.24, now im planing the release of 2.0 for edge 1.28
(when it comes out). Here are some screenshots from the new
version... Running on edge 1.27

I can't beleive that people can somehow squeeze a page or so of replies out of Newproject-tag-worthy maps and 'ideas' and yet halfway decent looking projects like this get no replies. I just don't get it.

In any case, it looks pretty good. Unfortuniatly, I'm not too experienced with Edge or I would be a beta tester, but by all means keep up the good work.

Im glad you think it looks good and i will keep it up!, i have 1 (maybe) beta tester so far but i will just have to wait abit longer i suppose. Anyway onto BlackFish's comment about the weapon sprites, alot of people said they a bit cartoony (when the game was released) so i was thinking about doing the unthinkable! ripping sprites from mdl's and having them as a seperate download. Im no artist by the way and it bugs me when people say you just need practise, you can either draw or not.

2nd'ly how come when some one starts a new project know one ever gives a shit, (yer its annoying when people crosspost, open more than one thread about it at a time, change project everyweek, etc), but if people gave abit more incouragment then some of those projects might have been completed.

That's because about 90% of these projects (I'm talking about the megawads, the TCs, etc., not single maps) never get done, and half of those never even make it out of the conception stage. Lack of time, lack of patience, lack of team members, or laziness, all drastically decrease the chance that a project is completed. And the bigger the project, the longer it takes and the harder it is for it to be completed. It's gotten so bad, that we had to make a forum tag for it, for example:

Newproject, before you start asking for help on your new mega-cool-and-whatnot project, make sure you have something to show first (screenshots, map downloads, etc). Keep in mind we've already seen thousands of upcoming projects that actually never got done.

However, too many people are abusing that tag for it to be taken sersiously anymore.

Actually that's not true. Anyone can draw, but those who don't have the eye for it need to practice harder than those who do.

I wouldn't mind doing that. Check out my mod in progress.

Well BlackFish if you would want to do that, by all means you can i'll tell you the weapons im using and you rip the alternative sprites. its up to you if you wanna do that thou....

Good luck with your project!! It's looking good so far.

I'm too busy with my own Edge TC to do any beta-testing for someone elses unfortunately, plus I'm beta-testing Edge 1.28 at the moment so I've got my hands full.

When I sort out a little problem I'm having with my site (I can only see it at work) I'll add you to my Edge links section.

If you had ever looked at his SWAD thing for Eternity, you would have noticed that he took screenshot-rips of CS models and made sure to have a complete idle-animation (the natural weapon shifts, how the player would rock them in his hand, sway a little, etc, in Half-Life and its derivatives). Unnecessary, wasteful, but I guess kinda pretty... and if you keep the weapons moving there's less time to analyze their appearance against Doom's natural appearance, so you can't tell as easily that they're god-awful-clashing-model-screenshots.

There's no idle anims in any of the SWAD packs. The only full animation in them were the firing ones.

Whatever. Either way, you only need at most 4 frames of animation for each of those weapons, where you have a crapload that look pretty much the same except for minor shifts.

I think it looks great like that..it's the smoothest cs weapons i've seen for doom..the only problem i see with weapon pack..guns are a bit to small..oh well maybe its just me

Switch To quake? why would i want to do that! the only descent source port quake has is tenebrae, with its hi-res textures and shaders but thats way above my league.

I've got some new screenshots from Napalm if anyone wants to see them.. i put a link up later.
