Err... as ive said countless times, its up to the creators whether or not they can remake the game, not the fans. This is why i don't understand some of these posts. If "you" made a product and wanted to redo it, its your decision, no-one else's. I certainly wouldn't care whether it was true to the original or not, aslong as i felt it was what i wanted it to be, then it was good.

I mean whats wrong if Doom 3 isn't as good as doom 1, doom 1 is still a classic game and will remain a classic game no matter what doom 3 turns out like.

You people just dont want to admit that there's somthing you really like and don't want changed but you gotta take it out on another gamer to hide it. The fact is it wont be the same as doom 1 and it will just be able to stand on its own feet (only because of it's heritage). It wont be a mindless shooting with big guns (just like we want it). It will undoubtably be completly diferent. Just another, bad and small selection of guns, low ammo, low health, resident evilish game with only a few amount of monsters and alot of noises, completly turning the old one upside down. and if im wrong I'll eat my hat. If this wasnt a doom game it wouldn't survive in the gaming world it's just a Painkiller clone.

Contradicting yourself much? Painkiller is about as mindless a shooter as you can possibly get (along the same lines as Serious Sam), so how the heck can Doom 3 not be a mindless shooter and yet be a mindless shooter at the same time? Makes zero sense.

You're contradicting yourself again. You say you want Doom 3 to essentially be identical to the original, but then you complain that Doom 3 doesn't have enough weapons even though it has more than Doom 2? Eh?

I've never read anything about either of these being the case. I'm pretty sure both ammo levels and health will be around the same levels as in the original.

Well, I recently played the Escape from Phobos demo, and quite frankly I think that project kicksass as it can relate to how ID wanted DooM to be but didn't have the advanced editing features back then.

I made peace with the fact that Doom 3 is a retelling (not a remake you tardcake!) of Doom 1 as I made peace with the fact that the monsters look completely different long ago.

Who wants a game identical to the original? That just wouldn't be interesting in the least - no surprises, just what I expect. This just wouldn't be a worthy successor to Doom.

Everything I didn't want to change in Doom 3 has NOT been changed - all the old weapons are still there and seemingly as awesome as ever (for the most part they seem to be way cooler than I could've even imagined myself) - my favorite monsters from the originals are there, and so far, those of the oldies I've seen are way scarier and cooler than the old ones. The new hero marine looks sweet and the surroundings are gorgeous and atmospheric and the game sports shadows and ragdoll physics combined with per-poly hit detection.

I just couldn't ask for more old features to be updated, except for insignificant things that I could still live without.

It will be different to you, but to me, it will probably be exactly how I saw the original Doom:
Atmospheric, action-packed - a great game with an awesome selection of cool weapons combined with my all-time favorite theme and a selection of really awesome monsters. I can respect that you don't think it will be the same, but that doesn't mean that your opinion is the general attitude.

Why do you think the weapons are bad? All the old weapons are back and much cooler to look at now - imo at least. Elaborate on those opinions please: why do you think the guns are bad?

1. Everything is relative - I don't know what you mean by "few" monsters, but I've read more than once that Doom 3 will have a few intense situations in which the player is assaulted by larger groups (10 monsters or so).
Also, I suggest you check the first Doom game - that game was less of an action fest than most people seem to think.

2.Turning the game upside down eh? Well, my perception of the old Doom 1 was that it WAS more of a "conserve-ammo-and-watch-every-corner" rather than a shooting spree, so I can disagree with you on the fly in regards to Doom 3 being "upside down" compared to the original - do not confuse Doom 1 with Doom 2 or any of the thousands of custom made maps for Doom 2 sporting a retardillion amount of monsters, because they're actually completely different from Doom 1's style.

Of course, we're all entitled to our opinions, and I would certainly respect your opinions if you did your homework - alas, you stumble in here and wail like a small child (I almost said "like a newborn child" but that comparison wasn't fair) about things you know little of, with little substantial backing to your claims. I have no respect for people who don't at least try to make a serious attempt at arguing.

Yesh don't get so tense I was only posting what I thought about the new doom game. Im not disagreeing you or anyone here, just saying I wont like it THAT MUCH and go into such a hype about it like many others for a large amount of reasons. Sure I'll buy it but it wont have the most fun you could ever dream of having, (like proper doom) I will always play the classic doom's I will continue to make many, many many mods for it and have great fun with them for many many years. And why are you defending this game so much if your on this rant thread moaning about stuff on it like I was? eh? and please *cough* remake! *cough*

Ok, sorry for being so rough, but you could have tried to formulate your opinions a *tad* more mature and with less ignorance put into it.

I think that those of us who "slammed" you did so, because we got fed up with the ALL-CAPS, the many exclamation marks, the horrendous spelling/grammar and the clear signs suggesting you hadn't really done your homework.

All right, since you have a hard time grasping and accepting simple rules, allow me to elaborate:

You're on a popular forum. Such a forum needs to maintain a certain image of being a good, mature place. If ALL-CAPS, 1337 speek, heavy grammatical errors and spelling mistakes were accepted here, it would give a casual guest the impression that people here are morons - we do not wish to give people that impression. As usual, the loud-mouthed minority is what people notice - even if just one person out five hundred Members mouths of in a bad-mannered, ill-written way, it will give a bad image of the entire damn website.

Hence the policy here is that if people can't take their sweet time to make sure their responses are well-written, well-thought out and decently intelligible, then they have no place here. Deal with it or fuck off - it's that simple.

What DSM said. Keeping a forum civilized ensures that quality discussion will be made and all can benefit from it. If this forum were allowed to, as DSM said have horrendous grammar and 'l337' speak then it would turn into another shitty forum which are found all over the net. Doomworld is one of the best forums out there and It would be a shame to see it go to hell.

So please, make well thought and appropriate posts. :)
