HTTP Image Encoding - PLEASE HELP!!

Recommended Posts

Once again The Lamer needs help with his lame programming for Lamer Productions: I've finally worked out how to encode-send-receive-decode non-text files using TCP/IP but I can't work out which method of encoding HTTP uses to send images to web browsers (I wanna write a web server so I can provide some free web tools), or whether or not it even encodes the files. The control I have allows Base64 and UUCode. Is one of these used by HTTP or is it something completely different? Please help me.

I always thought it sent it as raw data. (Prepended with the http header ofcourse.)

Uh, you just send the file, with the accompanying MIME type in the headers - image/png, image/jpeg, etc. Whats the problem?

Ah right, thanks. I was expecting it to be raw, but hoping it wouldn't be cos that's more complicated with the shitty TCP/IP control I use. Being a lamer, I program in Visual Basic rather than C++ :)
