Stealthy Ivan Posted March 29, 2004 If I did not work so much, I would probably get into it. But the maps would take for ever to finish, and I doubt you would see any megawads/TC's, they would take years to complete... 0 Share this post Link to post

Look at the hundreds of Quake3 maps that have been released, and note the detail in the latest Q3 maps, which are about as detailed as a UT2k3 map, because the experienced mappers push the Q3 engine to their limits. All the Q3 mapping community is eager to get their hands on Doom3 editing. Just as an example, check out this Q3 map, called Deimos2, which is inspired by a Doom3 screenshot and shows a similar ammount of detail: http://www.planetquake.com/lvl/comments.asp?id=1673 It will probably be slightly more work to include all the singleplayer specific stuff in Doom3 levels, but I think it´s not that complicated. The architecture we see in the screenshots doesn´t look insanely complicated, it looks doable. The one thing that will, as far as I can see it, be much more time consuming in Doom3, is custom texture creation and an custom moddeling. Because the textures aren´t simple graphics anymore, but need an actual model to create a bump map, plus those extra texture layers for the gloss effects etc. 0 Share this post Link to post
