A question about how CN works

Recommended Posts

At compet-n, do you have to have THE world record to have your demo posted there, or does it only have to break one of the times that's not the world record? Or, does it just have to be noticeably fast?

?!?!

You have to beat the fastest time for the map (or set) in question. Previous (slower) entries are simply older records that have already been surpassed.

Very occasionally, the record time at Compet-N is *not* the world record time for that level, because the demo author didn't want to upload for whatever reason. In which case you just have to beat the fastest C-N time. This is rare though.

If there's no record for a particular level in some category, any old crap you send in counts, as long as it's a valid run.

There should be a couple of HR demos that were sent to the Doomed SDA and not to COMPET-N, for instance.

Claudio used to send some records to DANG and not COMPET-N (they could've been beaten by now, I don't know). But as Radek so nicely put, "no uploads, no glory. ;)"

Back to the question, yep, you have to beat the current C-N record to be able to send your demo.
Except:
- 30NM, 30NS: any demo is accepted. 2nd and 3rd fastest also get you points.
- 30UV, 30UVMAX, 30FAMAX: 2nd fastest is accepted and gets you points.

except maybe if you found a new trick and cant do it in UV or Nightmare. You can then mail the demo to Adam ? (nomonsters most of the times)
