Indirectly related to Doom question...

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a not too powerful, easy to use and smart graphics program to do some light editing of images for the making of doom textures. Does anyone know any good ones that are FREE or have really leniant trial periods? Nothing too fancy, no Photoshops or the like.

Some features it needs to have:

The ability to adjust image size keeping aspect ratio in mind (and the option to turn off aspect ration keepage)

some effects options.

invert, flip and all those simple things.

color, hue, brightness adjuster.

easy to crop and cut and paste.

A color replacment tool would be nice.

"freeform" cutting tool (not just a square cutter)

and whatever other good tools people can think to suggest.

Try the TBYB version Paint Shop Pro 8, from JASC software. It's a good sized download, but well worth it.

Under the Wizard menu in Wally there are two types of wads... Half-Life and Quake1 - why not doom?
