gravitar Posted April 14, 2004 Hi, is there a way to disable the mousemovement (forward/side) when playing a port and mouselook is off ? Another thing is i downloaded a bunch of demos from Compet-n, but every 2nd or 3rd demo gets out of sync ?! I am using Prboom 2.24, as i read around here that this should be used for playback. Thx for answers. 0 Share this post Link to post
myk Posted April 14, 2004 Genuine DOOM or DOOM II recordings rarely go out of synch with PrBoom 2.2.4; check your IWAD versions, they should be unmodified v1.9 wads. To remove the forwards/backwards sensitivity in PrBoom simply set the vertical mouse sensitivity to 0. 0 Share this post Link to post
gravitar Posted April 14, 2004 I have the Doom collectors edition, i also dont know how to check the version :/ If i disable the y-axis, i always shoot straight where the crosshair is and cant hit enemys above me like when mlook is disabled. Is it possible to disable the strafe-gliding of the mouse ? 0 Share this post Link to post

gravitar Posted April 14, 2004 Nevermind, just had to set autoaim on to hit enemies above me. I guess theres nothing i can do about the demos, strange, for example 1519ev21.lmp goes out of sync.. Anyway thanks for your help myk :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted April 14, 2004 gravitar said:I guess theres nothing i can do about the demos, strange, for example 1519ev21.lmp goes out of sync.As myk says, you need to check the file sizes of your iwads. If they have been corrupted in some way, then you need to reinstall them from your disks. doom.wad: 12,408,292 bytes doom2.wad: 14,604,584 bytes tnt.wad: 18,195,736 bytes plutonia.wad: 17,420,824 bytes Note also that for Final Doom demos, there are two ways in which they can be recorded, and each way requires a different way to play them back with prboom. The player can either use tnt.wad (or plutonia.wad) as an iwad or as a pwad. For example: doom2 -file tnt.wad -warp 01 -skill 4 -record ev01-xxx (where doom2 is the doom2 executable) uses it as a pwad. To play it back, use: prboom -iwad doom2.wad -file tnt.wad -playdemo ev01-xxx. (You may not need to include "-iwad doom2.wad".) doom2 -warp 01 -skill 4 -record ev01-xxx (where doom2 is the evilution executable) uses it as a iwad. To play it back, use: prboom -iwad tnt.wad -playdemo ev01-xxx. It should clarify in the text-file how it has been recorded, but I notice that many of the newer compet-n players are rather careless about this, often claiming that the Final Doom exe has been used, when in fact it hasn't. :( The demo you mention was recorded with the Final Doom exe, so your command line to play it back should be: prboom -iwad tnt.wad -playdemo 1519ev21 0 Share this post Link to post
gravitar Posted April 14, 2004 Grazza: Thanks alot for that info, i made an easy mistake with the commandline, everything works fine now; just watched the demo, my wads are also alright. I am just playing Hell Revealed for the first time, and on UV; its quite funny getting humiliated on every map and then watching the demos, i just love watching demos. Thanks again ! :))) 0 Share this post Link to post
VinceDSS Posted May 10, 2004 Hell Revealed is pretty good to get some nice practice with dooming :) Glad you enjoy playing it 10 years after its release. And it's also cool to see that you like demos :) 0 Share this post Link to post
