Hoorjay I'm on the lists!

For my favorite mappers; most of the people already mentioned. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Anthony Czerwonka and Iikka Keränen, though.

For THE mapper, I'm going to pick John Romero. Among the amateurs, I'd possibly pick Yonatan Donner. But there are many runners-up right behind ;)

Not neccessarily in order:

Chris Hansen (C-Cooper)
Samuel Villarreal (Kaiser/Deathman)
Jacob Zuchowski (Ellmo) <- :-)
Marc A. Pullen (Fanatic)
Anthony Czerwonka (Adelusion)
Ola Bjorling
Chris Lutz
Brad Spencer
Matt Mcgee (AgentSpork)

and 1 non-Doom Mapper, for creating a map-theme that I simply love-desert bases:
Matt Breit (Lunaran)

I'd have to say, without a doubt, Cyb. My personal runners-up are Russell Pearson (for Lego Base, which I've played through several times with different weapon mods), Enjay, and that guy who made Earth and Phobos.

lots of great mappers, but the ones at the very top IMVHO:
(sure I'm missing a few here)
Sam Woodman
Anthony Soto
Lee Szymanski
Esa Repo
Jan van der Veken
Michael Mesko
Nick Baker
Ola Bjorling
Stephen Robinson
Russell Pearson
Shamus Young
Travers Dunne
Tobias Forsberg
Yonatan Donner
Kurt Kesler
Richard Wiles
Adam Windsor
Anders Johnsen

shoot, I'm going to stop there, this is too hard to do. It's like listing the girls you'd like to bone... a couple names just spring to mind, before long you're listing the top 100. :P
all of the above, though, have made maps that weren't just technically stylistic; they had a playability quality that only DOOM can attain.

hmm... I have a fan. Good, good.

I can't say I have a favourite mapper. I don't even know that many maps that are great. My doom wad experience is sad in broadness.

I don't know the mapper, but I quite enjoy the styles of two maps in AV.wad. Map10 - Toxic Touch and map20 - Misri Halek

I should get some of the maps made by the guys in the lists. I probably have played them, just didn't note the author.

I wasn't even aware there were so many good, known mappers. I like all of the above, but no one has mentioned Marc A. Pullen. Castle.wad for EDGE= instant glory.

Kim Andre Malde, aka Mutator, aka one hell of a mapper. He also did the awesome AV map23, Blood Sacrifice (as well as a couple other AV maps). God I love that map.

Read My post. :-P

True, true, Castle is one of the best wads ever. Curse the EDGE team for removing MP3 support. Without the music The mighty castle and the caves feel bland instead of atmospheric.
Actually, when it comes to Fanatic, I mostly prefer his Hacx maps, especially Lava Annex-unforgetable.

Hmmm, favorite mapper(s)... Good question, these would have to be the ones that are on the top of my list.

Yonatan Donner (Hr24 BEST map ever in my opinion)
Anders Johnsen
Brad Spencer
John W. Anderson (Dr. Sleep) - GET LETHE OUT!! :)
Huy Pham (Converted Doomer)
Milo and Dario Casali
Ola Bjorling
Sam Woodman
Erik Alm
Andy Olivera
Lee Syzmanski
Kurt Kesler
Richard Wiles

Theres tons and tons more, but this is all that I could come up with.
