Bloodshedder Posted June 5, 2004 Karthik Abhiram has let me know that the two-level collaborative Wad created with his brother Varun, Reanimated, has been completed and is now available. Varun also talks about it a bit on his site. 0 Share this post Link to post
sargebaldy Posted June 5, 2004 A fine couple of maps by a fine couple of mappers :) The move over to DB seems to have suited you two quite well. And I see I'm not the only one to think the edge of PIPE2 would make a nice pillar :) But I suppose DB makes those kind of interesting use of textures a snap. Great work guys. 0 Share this post Link to post
sgtcrispy Posted June 5, 2004 Awesome pair of maps! Well worth the wait. Go grab 'em now peeps and enjoy! Yummy!! 0 Share this post Link to post

kristus Posted June 5, 2004 Yup. great maps. Pity on the terrible music. Ohwell. thanks for -nomusic. :p 0 Share this post Link to post
sargebaldy Posted June 5, 2004 I had the music off anyway since Eternity's lack of a volume control slider just makes it annoying. 0 Share this post Link to post
Karthik Posted June 7, 2004 To both the Sergeants, Boris and Ebola - Thanks for the comments on Reanimated, glad you guys liked it! Ebola - I take it you don't like Linkin Park? :) Well, like you said, there's always -nomusic... Sargebaldy - you're absolutely right about the Doom Builder thing, the switch did a whole lot of good! IIRC, you used to use DoomCAD too, right? That was a nice editor, but DB just makes things so much easier... I remember how much of a pain it was to manually align textures, not having an "undo" feature, not being able to copy-paste, not being able to use anything less than 8-unit linedefs... 0 Share this post Link to post
NiGHTMARE Posted June 7, 2004 I don't mind Linkin Park, but the midi in the 2nd level was a very poorly done conversion ;). 0 Share this post Link to post
sargebaldy Posted June 7, 2004 Yeah I really liked DoomCAD but switched to DB at the first possible opportunity due to the same weaknesses with DoomCAD you already mentioned... plus the fact it wouldn't run in XP and I had to use VMWare every time I wanted to map :/ 0 Share this post Link to post

I rebooted DoomCad a few times after switchin to DB and it felt sooo clunky.... 0 Share this post Link to post
Karthik Posted June 9, 2004 It seems from the comments on this thread, the /newstuff thread and some comments we received through email, that the music is pretty badly messed up on some people's computers. The MIDIs sound quite good on our computer though :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Bloodshedder Posted June 9, 2004 They sounded fine on my computer. I think most people just didn't like them. 0 Share this post Link to post
Amaster Posted June 9, 2004 I like Linkin Park but I couldnt take the music seriously as part of a doom map. Regardless, it's a great map set and I enjoyed it immensely. 0 Share this post Link to post

kristus Posted June 10, 2004 I hate to be a wet blanket. but I don't like Linking park, nor midi conversions off of their.. "songs". 0 Share this post Link to post
ragnew Posted June 10, 2004 Cool levels!! I think the gameplay kicks ass... I'm another one that isn't too big on Linkin Park (next time use Godsmack.. :)! ), but the music sounds pretty good on my PC too... Oh yeah, how do you get that damn Plasma Gun in map01? The end of map02 adds for a pretty fun time as well. Another GREAT mapset as always! 0 Share this post Link to post
Karthik Posted June 11, 2004 Heh, we couldn't have called it Reanimated without the Linkin Park music. We expected that some people would like the music and some would not, so it's not really a problem (we ourselves know many people who don't like Linkin Park). Maybe next time we'll stick to game music... ragnew - Hey, does this mean you are recording a demo?! :) The plasma gun door is opened by a switch in the outdoor area. After you put on the switch that lowers the two doors on either side of it, step out and you'll see two SATYR faces suspended by some beams. One of the SATYR faces is glowing (the one on the right side after you enter the area), and it's also the SW2SATYR texture as compared to the other one. Press it to open the plasma gun door. The novelty here is that the switch is not at ground level :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Bloodshedder Posted June 11, 2004 It was good, so I don't really care what you called it. 0 Share this post Link to post
