Bucket Posted June 14, 2004 Pretty much anything. I can play by ear. (guitar, bass, piano...) It took me about a month to decipher(and another month to be able to play) the piano intro to Genesis's "Firth of Fifth". Not familiar with it? Look it up. Other than that, most modern songs require little to no talent, and it depresses me that kids today are drawing their playing techniques from these bands. I was in a cover band for a short time a few years ago, and it'd take me, at most, a few hours to learn a song. 0 Share this post Link to post
Scientist Posted June 14, 2004 Guitar [ ] Bass [ ] Piano [ ] ...I can't play anything. <:`-( 0 Share this post Link to post
Little Faith Posted June 14, 2004 Piano Coldplay: Trouble. BTW, I know Jean Michel Jarre's Equinoxe part 3 by heart, but it is impossible to play. 0 Share this post Link to post

Remilia Scarlet Posted June 14, 2004 I can usually play by ear, too, when it comes to a piano as long as it's within my ability to play it. I'm not that good at playing, though. 0 Share this post Link to post

Heh, indeed. *points to username* Although sometimes the simple things can be quite good (original doom levels, for example). Also when you are just learning, sometimes it is good to start out simple (like mapping original doom levels) then work your way up. I myself have no music talent whatsoever, although I can hum/whatnot music that I hear quite well. That doesn't count though. 0 Share this post Link to post
Bloodshedder Posted June 14, 2004 I can often play stuff by ear on a keyed instrument, as long as it's not too complex. 0 Share this post Link to post
Kid Airbag Posted June 14, 2004 I can play heart and soul on the piano. The high part, not the low part. But I can sing! I can sing all sorts of Beatles songs! 0 Share this post Link to post
Zaldron Posted June 14, 2004 Closer's outro notes on the guitar. Yes I suck. 0 Share this post Link to post
Ed Posted June 14, 2004 Bass: Every Misifts song pre-1996 Every Ministry song pre-1996 Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark Almost every GG Allin song Boatloads of Cannibal Corpse songs Tons of The Cure songs Black Sabbath - Children of the Grave Black Sabbath - Snowblind Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath Almost every Black Flag song Lots of Dead Kennedys Lots of S.O.D. Lots of Venom songs ZZ Top - Sleeping Bag I'm not big on doing cover songs, I'd rather learn scales and new playing styles, despite the fact that you can be playing a sweep arpeggio at 180bpms on bass and it won't impress anyone. Slap and pop three notes and you're Les Claypool. Lately Iv'e been on a programming kick, setting up a fairly impressive midi workshop in the studio. 0 Share this post Link to post
insertwackynamehere Posted June 14, 2004 Saxophone A lot of stuff including a Jackson 5 arrangment that me and the rest of the High School Jazz Combo play. 0 Share this post Link to post
Dunbar Posted June 14, 2004 I can play the Wormsong from the game Worms on any piano or keyboard like instrument. I can also play it backwards. 0 Share this post Link to post

I feel your pain. For some reason I don't feel respected as a guitarist/songwriter unless I do harmonics. Not to mention the fact that anytime I have an "audience" while sitting around with my guitar, someone says "Dude, know any Led Zeppelin?" ...Makes me want to break their face. They are NOT accomplished musicians by any stretch of the imagination, anyone who idolizes them gets no respect from me, and I would be insulted to be compared to them. 0 Share this post Link to post

Janderson Posted June 15, 2004 Psyonisis said:And Janderson, you mentioned the Heckler by Primus on the guitar. Do you know how to play that weird harmonicy part, or just the beginning chords? Both I'm led to believe, but the solo is a bit tricky. This is how I think it goes; Beginning ---------- ---------- -------3-- -------2-- ---------- ---h3----- Repeat Chorus ------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------- ------[9^]----9--------------------12----- ----------8-8---8------[9^]--11-11---11-- ---7-7--------------7-7------------------- ---0-0--------------0-0------------------- --------------------------------- --------------------------------- ------[9^]----9----------------- ----------8-8---8------------9-- ---7-7---------------7---x-x-7-- ---0-0---------------0---0-0-0-- [#]Pinch Harmonic ^ Bend x Mute note Is that it? 0 Share this post Link to post
